JOB DETAIL

 

Implements and performs technical upgrades and maintains AIX operating systems/servers for enterprise systems. Coordinates installation of other IBM computer operating system software and tests, maintains, and modifies that software. Maintains familiarity with a variety of the concepts, practices and procedures related to the AIX/Intel operating system area. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Performs a variety of tasks.

 

Responsibilities:

·         Plan and supervise changes to the systems, in accordance with Change Management process, as required by operational or upgrade requirements.

·         Assist in the preparation of technical infrastructure standards including build and configuration standards for assigned technology domains.

·         Perform technical assessments/reviews between different infrastructure options as part of platform upgrade and refresh activities.

·         Provide monitoring operational support with incident analysis and resolution when required. Participate in the company infrastructure monitoring and provide Level 1 and Level 2 support when required.

·         Provide operational support to implement maintenance tasks associated to all the technological towers described before.

·         Supervise and in some instances perform software installation tasks as needed to assist project delivery. This activity is normally performed in conjunction with application vendors.

·         Perform capacity planning as part of technical platform role.

·         Provide technical input to architectural planning – utilizing relevant expertise to ensure that architectural plans and budgets reflect the activities and investment required to move from the current state to the desired state.

·         Provide installation, configuration and roll out of the hardware

 

Qualified candidates would have the following:

 

Required Skills/Experience:

·         5+ years of IT experience in enterprise environment covering systems administration in AIX infrastructure

·         5+ years of experience building and supporting operational system such as AIX/Linux, HMC systems

·         Familiarity with Agile methodologies.

·         Demonstrated strength in troubleshooting complex technical issues.

 

Education/Training:

 

·         Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience.
