Required skills and experience

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
• 2-5 years IT related experience
• experience with administration of Linux and/or Unix
• web server and app server administration
• scripting language
• PC hardware

 

Preferred

• Jboss application server administration
• Web server administration
• network configuration and administration

 

Essential Functions

Project Planning

Work with business stakeholders to identify the businessrequirements of the assigned projects

Work with IT management and business stakeholders toidentify the technical requirements of the assigned projects

Perform feasibility and cost/benefit analyses for proposedprojects

Produce detailed project plans

Plan and organize tasks, report on project progress,coordinate with additional technical teams

Plan, organize, and conduct field tests of new and/orupdated hardware and software components

Prepare installation, operational, and support instructionsfor system implementation

               

System Administration

Install and configure operating system packages

Configure and activate system services as required

Evaluate hardware and system software components

Integrate new hardware components into the platform

Modify system and service configuration as required to meetnew security requirements

Identify and evaluate software package upgrades

Test and approve package updates for distribution andproduction use

Develop automated processes for package distribution,installation, and tracking

Monitor and support package installation  

Improve processes for hardware and software evaluation

Support application development team projects

Administer systems used by the software development teams

Perform regression testing

Create manual and automated test scripts

Perform change management

 

Operational Support

Develop improvements to administration, maintenance, andsupport processes

Provide third level support for operating system andhardware problems reported by field employees

Support local area network and wide area network maintenanceand implementation activities. Interface with network engineers

 

Incidental Functions

Assist server and development teams with data center relatedprojects
