• Lead BI/DW development, mentor junior resources and track technical deliverables to ensure project success
• Conduct and collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to understand the vision and purpose of the development and participate in meetings to define/support deliverables for project success.
• Create accurate time estimates for development tasks related to BI system.
• Work with BI team members to establish best patterns, practices, and standards as new technology arises.
• Collaborate with other technology departments to define development and production infrastructure needs and best practices.
• Follow the enterprise SDLC standards and procedures
• Adhere to BI development standards for end to end application development.
• Work on multiple concurrent projects and participate in the entire software development lifecycle.
• Actively adapt to changing technology needs and frameworks to best serve the technical and business needs of the organization.
• Create technical documentation and code comments based on industry standards.
• Define and develop software unit tests and test plans based on business requirements.
• Report to the BI Manager and provide regular input on all projects, including status and updates on a weekly basis.
• Evaluate, interpret and understand Functional Specifications for highly complex custom development
• Design comprehensive BI solutions, translating complex requirements into an optimal BI design
• Construct Technical Specification for a solution design which will meet or exceed the functional requirements as described in the Functional Specification
• Develop, test, implement, and optimize scheduling for ETL jobs as described in the Technical Specification
• Document and conduct unit and system testing as it pertains to new BI/BW development and maintenance
• Provide input and recommendations for technical issues and process improvements
• Design and implement security solutions within the BI/BW environment
• Review and understand reporting requirements to model the BI/DW solution
• Create BW extracts and transformations for the new reporting targets
• Identify, troubleshoot & resolve issues in development/configuration/reporting
• Performs other related duties as required.
• Adapt processes to accommodate changes in source systems and new business user requirements
• Define and capture metadata and rules ETL associated with ETL processes
• Developing ETL packages using SSIS in a windows environment
• Design and implement cost-effective, technically correct database solutions based on business specifications
• Performance tuning and analysis including identifying and troubleshooting poorly performing queries and providing performance improvement recommendations
• Collaborate with the business subject matter experts, business analysts, functional leads, architects and technical leads from other disciplines to come up with end-to-end solutions to meet the assigned business requirements
• Interact with customers to achieve efficient, effective results with respect to database development and enhancement
• Act as database and SQL liaison and mentor for development team.
Education & Experience
• 5+ years of experience in ETL, Enterprise Data Warehouses, backend and front-end design, realization, go live, post go live support, etc.
• 10+ years Business Intelligence full lifecycle technical development experience, with a strong focus in ETL and data mapping/modeling, performance tuning on Teradata
• 5+ years of experience in requirements gathering, validating, and translating business requirements into solutions using Teradata, Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS and SAP BW interfaces
• Strong technical development skills in SQL, T-SQL, XML, OLAP, shell scripting other scripting languages, internal components, apps servers and tuning techniques
• 5+ years of experience with Data Integration, Web Services, Data Quality, and Data Validation implementation
• Experience assisting with business change activities including UAT design, planning, execution, and data provision.
• Advanced SQL, T-SQL, Teradata, Database design and tuning skills
• Strong communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills
• High degree of accuracy with attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines
• Must have a strong understanding of source code management technologies
• Familiarity with business process management and analytics
• Strong organizational skills and dedication to quality.
• Excellent customer service abilities.
• Must be a self-starter and able to work independently on projects.
• The ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities simultaneously.
• Solid experience in database query/performance optimizations on Teradata
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
