Monster project retiring Sybase…this is a big deal for the organization.
They are making good progress but their next step is all about retiring this complex old platform used for order intake.
They are getting ready to dive in on what that will mean in terms of decoupling and retire the system. Looking at functionality currently (EA helping to assess what this will look like).

• Currently 40 applications across the enterprise are dependent on an unsupported database technology: Sybase.
  To ensure the health, stability and compliance of our IT infrastructure.
  We propose replacing the Sybase platform with a safe, secure, supported and sustainable database technology. This project is a three-year effort; this proposal is for Phase
  1. A critical success factor is active participation and prioritization across application teams, product owners and business/operational partners.

• Migration of Sybase Applications and Reporting batch jobs to SQL server unless otherwise specified. Rewrite identified Sybase Applications and Reporting batch jobs for a modernized solution.
  Retire identified Sybase Applications.
