This role is responsible for creating enterprise grade semantic data models to support reporting deliverables, develop dashboards, and enable self-serve reporting for business users. The role will engage with business teams to understand requirements, work with data engineering teams to develop
core EDW models to support those requirements, and develop the semantic models. This position will also partner with report developers to ensure existing enterprise reporting use cases are met, and create enablement documentation for business users to leverage the semantic models as a self-serve
reporting platform.
Job Responsibilities
·Work with business teams across the enterprise to gather and document requirements for
semantic models and dashboard deliverables
· Develop enterprise dashboards (primarily within Power BI)
· Develop Power BI semantic data models for use in multiple BI tools (Power BI, Tableau,
MicroStrategy) with a focus on an intuitive end-user, self-serve reporting experience
· Create view definitions for EDW to enable semantic models
· Create end-user documentation for leveraging semantic models
· Partner with data engineering teams to create physical and virtual data structures that support
semantic model requirements
Qualifications
· 9+ years of BI development experience in an enterprise environment
· 8+ years of experience working in the Microsoft analytic stack, particularly Power BI
· Excellent SQL skills
· Excellent understanding of dimensional modeling principles, with a proven track record of
implementing dimensional data structures
· Strong understanding of how BI tools consume data, and how business users interact with BI
toolsets
· Strong understanding of and how to translate underlying tables into a performant and intuitive
semantic model
· Additional experience with Tableau and MicroStrategy preferred
