Project Manager
Qualification:
Bachelors in science , engineering or equivalent
Responsibility:
Project Planning & Setup:
- Work with the Project Manager (PM) to identify set of tasks unique to the project.
- Provide inputs to capacity planning in case it is a new environment.
- Review the project plan provided by the client (in case T&M) or created internally (Fixed fee).
- Discuss gaps/ concerns with PM.
- As required reestimate the project plan and provide feedback to PM.
- Assess tools for the project at this stage in case it's a new client.
Requirement Understanding and Analysis:
- Discover the requirements from the data if not clear.
- Identify/ review the data sources/ sets available with the user/ business.
- Analyze feasibility and tie it to data sources and sets required for the project.
- Review the BRS, SRS, Functional traceability matrix prepared by the BAs or other team members to ensure enough clarity.
- Identify the data requirements required from reporting standpoint, define KPIs and provide guidance on how it should it be presented.
Data Discovery & Profiling:
- Set up calls to understand data sources, business rules with the SME.
- Create a POC for the project to analyze end output of data (including details on sources, tying of sources, how to derive data etc) using tools like excel or MS Access based on the requirement.
- Analyze data available in the source systems to check for format, quality etc.
- Guide team to define/ define the translation rules to get the data in the required format.
Design:
- Design mapping documents, error handling / exception handling mechanisms.
- Define ETL for every data movement in order to standardize data into a universal format.
- Develop HLD and conduct impact analysis based on the project requirement.
- Guide leads/developers to create LLD.
- Provide inputs to develop the test strategy.
- Create design documents required for BI projects (semantic layer design, meta data objects design, reports and dashboard design, reporting UI & web design).
Coding:
- Procure coding standards, database standards, ETL standards, reporting tools, naming conventions and others standards and templates (Client and Cognizant) for developers to adhere to.
- Provide technical guidance to the developer in case of issues.
- Review if the deliverables meet the requirements and are upto the standards defined.
Testing Management:
- Help the developers to define test scenarios, negative scenarios for testing based on data profiling.
- Help defend scenarios during UAT.
Deployment:
- Participate and provide inputs to plan the releases.
- consolidate inputs provided by the designer and appraise the respective teams as required.
Service Support and Maintenance:
- Provide support in terms of impact analysis in case of any new requirements.
Stakeholder Management:
- Understand internal stakeholders (Account Manager, Project Managers etc) and client expectations Follow through on commitments, achieve timely resolution of issues.
Knowledge Management:
- Create/ contribute to document development (case study, lessons learnt etc) as required.
People Management:
- Conduct technical, face to face interviews (as part of organization contribution activities).
- Conduct performance appraisals for direct reportees.
- Coordinate with the project/program manager in understanding how the employee can better contribute to the project, seek feedback and address concerns.
