JOB DETAIL

Looking for an experienced SQL Server DBA to assist with the following. Resources must be team oriented and have strong communication skills.

•             Upgrading and/or migrating many SQL instances

•             Several upgrades and migrations may include new server builds and new (upgraded) versions of SQL

               installations. Servers will be built by a different team

•             SQL Installation and configuration

Required Skills:

•             SQL Server administration experience across SQL Server 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019

•             Strong understanding of SQL upgrades and best practices

•             Expertise in SQL Replication, SQL Backup and Restore, T-SQL, Windows Clustering, SQL Server Failover Clustering     

                and SQL Server High Availability and SQL Failover concepts

•             Strong DevOps and automation skills, including PowerShell, Ansible, Azure DevOps, GitHub

•             Windows administration and Azure SQL experience is highly desired

•             Expert business analysis skills to document and analyze the application requirements and configuration

•             Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment

•             Ability to track and communicate status on multiple SQL migration / upgrade efforts

•             Ability to multitask. Flexible to change in migration plan or migration schedule changes

•             Strong understanding of SQL Server permissions especially when migrating and / or upgrading

•             During the analysis phase, if there are applications who request migration to Azure instead of new data center,           

                need to be flexible to work on this activity

                Responsibilities will include:

•             Assisting with testing and verifying migrated / upgraded SQL Instances

•             Identify potential risk and make recommendations

•             Testing and remediation of impact on DBA maintenance scripts, SQL agent jobs, audits, triggers, credentials,         

                policy management, ODBC driver configurations

•             Configure and validate backups using standard tools and processes

•             Streamlining the entire migration process to minimize downtime

•             Develop automation for migrating databases

•             Work with development teams on application testing and debugging in dev and QA

•             Participate in migrating production servers (non-business hours)

•             Provide post-upgrade troubleshooting and performance tuning as needed

•             Provide regular status updates and attend project meetings

•             Document new / upgraded server configurations and share knowledge

•             Contribute to database operations and continuous improvement activities, including on call rotation as assigned
