- Maintain the Client’s Oracle databases. Monitor availability of critical database systems.
- Independently troubleshoot Production database incidents with little oversight. Work with vendor support as needed to resolve issues.
- Manage database security including user access, data encryption, and enforcement of strong password policies, designs security and integrity controls.
- Perform database restores for data refreshes as required by application development teams.
- Apply understanding of relational database concepts and query languages in order to assist with SQL and hardware performance tuning.
- Provide database support for new application initiatives such as application upgrades or new software deployments.
- Automate database administration tasks to increase efficiency.
- Upgrade database software to new major and minor release versions.
- Design and analyze policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management.
- Assist developers in troubleshooting application issues.
- Identify areas where operational efficiency improvements could be made and propose solutions.
- Provide guidance and training to other administrators and developers where applicable.
- Participate in change control processes, documentation, and communication about work.
Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent 4-year degree and 5-7 years of Oracle database experience.
- 2 years of Oracle RAC experience is preferred.
- Experience working with automation tools is preferred.
