Understand latest architecture, technology, solutions, and industry trends
Provide architectural analysis/recommendations for enterprise-level solutions involving legacy, cloud, and web-based architectures
Understand and promote security/compliance best practices, including automation of secure system best-practices
Provide technical leadership and be responsible for the delivery of the technical architectural design, strategies and plans on an ongoing basis
Research and recommend application/networking best practices, as applicable, for the following areas: Business Continuity, High Availability, Backup, Recovery and Archiving
Promote cloud-based infrastructure and applications to reduce costs and improve information flows, and ensure that projects do not duplicate infrastructure or diverge from business and IT strategies
Work with stakeholders, both leadership and subject matter experts, to build processes and information technology assets, and align the business goals with the project strategy
Recommend changes to procedures which result in operational optimization
Perform Capacity Planning and Disaster Recovery Planning and design as applicable
Mentor junior team members
Qualifications
BA/BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
Minimum 10 years of related technical experience in system development and network design
5-10 years of progressive experience as a lead architect in infrastructure / application / service architecture
Knowledge of technology infrastructure, server and network topology
Familiarity with cloud-based resource management (Azure/AWS/GCP) and networking
Experience with system security and compliance risk/vulnerability evaluation and mitigation
Knowledge of distributed, heterogeneous (Windows, Unix, etc.) scalable systems design
Knowledge of internets, intranet, and extranet systems design (security, content management, eCommerce, web, and application servers)
Knowledge of high availability/fault-tolerant systems design and transparent application fail-over
Knowledge of relational and spatial database design, logical and physical system architecture, and object-oriented analysis and design
Knowledge of replication, backup, and disaster recovery design
Knowledge of system sizing, capacity planning and performance tuning, and storage and area network architecture
