Central to Client's energy transition strategy is developing a leading global clean power business. Our Power strategy focuses on meeting commercial, industrial and residential customer needs, bolstered by our activities in generation, power trading and marketing, retail energy, distributed energy resources and grid services, as well as our ability to optimize supply and demand across our large asset and customer portfolio. Client Energy Platform 
The Client Energy Platform organization is leading Client's efforts to design, develop, deliver and maintain a global energy management platform that unlocks value across Client's Power business. Client Energy Platform aims to enable Client's efforts to harness the potential in its vast fleet of customers, energy assets, and power trading capabilities to deliver value across the energy industry value chain.

Client Energy Platform is empowered to coordinate and align Client's energy management platform objectives, strategies, and execution approaches across the company, as well as to design, deliver and maintain a mission critical component of Client's ability to deliver differentiated products, offerings and capabilities across its expanding global footprint. 

Responsibilities 
The Senior Optimization Engineer is the builder of our optimization engine. This experienced engineer will grow and develop this critical technical component on Energy Platform. They will work across Client's global power business, suite of portfolio companies, and Energy Platform teams to deliver outsized value. Responsibilities include: 

Qualifications:
• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Information Systems, Data Science or engineering.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience engineering data science and/or machine learning applications or services.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a large and complex big data environment
• Familiarity with data ingestion and processing techniques with outputs that are insightful and actionable, to include visualization, data lakes and data warehouses to develop strategies
• Strong fundamental knowledge of neural networks, probability theory, stochastic systems, Bayesian inference, predictive modeling, supervised/unsupervised/deep learning
• Proficiency in two or more of the following languages; Python, Golang, R, SQL, MatLab
• Hands-on experience developing applications with virtualization and cloud technologies
• Experience with software frameworks for distributed computing and data such as Microservices, Docker, Pub-Sub messaging (Kafka), Kubernetes


Preferred

• Experience in energy management domain, with comfort in energy asset optimization, asset control and data flow loops, and wholesale electricity market applications  
• Experience with machine learning frameworks such as Scikit-Learn,TensorFlow, Caffe, MXNet
• Knowledge of natural language processing, IOT and edge computing
• Experience building and operating distributed systems on the cloud
• Experience working closely with data scientists and appreciation for their unique workflow
• Ability to create technical drawings, architectural products and concept graphics rapidly
• Possesses a sense of urgency, strong organizational and follow up skills
• Ability to collaborate effectively across global teams and communicate complex ideas in a simple manner
