JOB DETAIL

This individual is responsible for driving, organizing and managing IT service changes and projects. Charged with overseeing the lifecycle of an IT service request or project, IT PMs work to effectively manage timelines, resources, budgets, work efforts, risks, issues, and vendors in order to meet stated service request or project initiatives.

Essential Functions:

  • Utilize project management processes, methodologies, and tools to ensure assigned projects are delivered on time, within budget, adhere to high quality standards and meet customer expectations.
  • Work with project stakeholders to clearly define and manage expectations, objectives, assumptions, measurements, schedule, scope, requirements, risks, issues, changes, metrics & success-criteria, communication, change control, and successful deployment. Post-deployment, work with project stakeholders to measure project results, ensure achievement of business outcomes, and successfully operationalize project deliverables.
  • Develop resource forecasts and teamwork assignments to efficiently and effectively achieve desired business outcomes. Lead cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives with specified quality levels.
  • Develop, maintain, and evolve project schedules. Account for resource capacity, organizational change capacity, competing initiatives, and project constraints.
  • Anticipate, respond, and mitigate project risks and issues.
  • Actively communicate with project stakeholders. Ensure visibility and transparency into all aspects of assigned projects.
  • Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs.
  • Track key project milestones and adjust project plans and/or resources to meet the needs of the business
  • Develop change management and communication plans to ensure stakeholder buy-in, cross-functional involvement, executive alignment and user adoption.
  • Provides support to determine where risk mitigation measures are required, and to identify Risk Owners who will be responsible for their transition and ongoing maintenance
  • Provides support to assess a proposed Change and authorize the Change planning phase. If required, higher levels of authority (e.g. IT Management) are involved in the authorization process
  • Responsible to define stakeholders, responsibilities and resources available to the project, as well as documenting risks, constraints and assumptions affecting the project
  • Responsible to make sure service changes are planned in accordance with the organization's Project Management guidelines, and to coordinate activities and resources across projects
  • Responsible to monitor project progress and resource consumption, to expedite progress when required and to initiate corrective action if required
  • Responsible to provide an overall summary of all planned or ongoing service changes
  • Provides PM metrics as needed
  • Ensures advance preparation for all project meetings, as well as appropriate follow-up (e.g. prepare agendas, ensure pre-reads are available, promptly complete meeting minutes, organize and archive materials)
  • Executes timely and effective communication of progress and challenges to all stakeholders
  • Leads post-mortems on all projects and incorporates learning into future projects and tools

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of IT Service Management processes
  • Experience using Project Management Tools including MS Project, MS Visio, MS Excel, Jira, Smartsheet, Workfront
  • PMP, ITSM, ITIL, and/or Agile understanding and/or certifications
  • 1-2 years of successfully project management experience including direct internal customer facing experience
  • 1-2 years of experience managing multiple project and portfolio methodologies including Waterfall, Agile and/or SDLC
  • Previous experience leading technology or business professionals to meet specific value objectives
  • Past experience working across multiple domains with various executive stakeholders
  • Excellent organization, time management and communication skills
  • Ability to measure implementation effectiveness and assess results against client business objectives/ROI
  • Superior analytical, evaluative and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience in the management technology and service lifecycles
