• The client is moving towards Snowflake and one of their main SQL resources will be moving over to aid in that project. This leaves a significant gap bandwidth to handle current and future data endeavors in SQL

. • These resources will be tasked with handling Break Fix items tied to SQL and also any ongoing enhancement projects that come up.

• They would prefer to hire 2 resources. One that is more senior and one that is around 5+ years. The more senior resource would be expected handle more complex technical issues and be tasked with being the primary SQL thought leader on the team. Technology environment the consultant will be working in: MSSQL Consultants’ day to day responsibilities:

• Manipulation of Data with MS SQL to include:

• Break fixes for existing processes – types of tickets include:

• Something has changed in stored data – needs to be identified and corrected

• Take in requests from business and develop solutions such as:

• Adding functionality to a set of reporting tables

• Creating new table

Required skills:
 

·         Resident Engineering - Prior experience as a backup engineer (preferably as a Sr Resident Engineer for another vendor or services company) designing, implementing, configuring, troubleshooting backup solutions from scratch in new environments.

o    Should have experience helping to design long term backup roadmaps, laying out infrastructure, doing bandwidth assessments, etc

·         VMware - Must have very strong hands on experience with VMware including experience planning, designing and executing how you will backup complex VMware environments with the newly implemented backup solution – configuring backups for virtual servers

o    Must have SnapShot experience

·         Large Database Backups - Must have strong experience designing and implementing the backup strategy for large database backups including experience with replication configuration and database tuning

o    Application aware backups and backups for large database environments (Oracle, SQL Server, NoSQL, etc)

·         Command Line Scripting - Very comfortable at the command line vs GUI and daily administration of the backup jobs like creating backup schedules, restoring jobs, generating reports (failed backups etc) typically using Powershell or Python

·         NW Troubleshooting - Strong network troubleshooting experience including resolving network errors when backups fail, troubleshooting firewall issues, etc

·         Must have experience working with networking as it relates to traffic during roll outs.

o    Specifically understanding what ports are used for data flows.

o    Configuring a backup solution in a new environment you will need networking and firewall knowledge to implement the solution – must know how the firewall impacts the implementation and when to escalate issues to the firewall team
