The Business Analyst is responsible for a full range of activities which includes writing detailed description of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify new and existing applications. Familiar with relational database concepts, and client-server concepts. The business analyst serves as the conduit between the program/customer community and the software development team through which requirements flow. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. Understands the application development life cycle and B2B concepts. The BA will be involved at some level throughout the entire software development life cycle. Upon establishment of the requirements baseline, the focus is shifted towards the management of the requirements specification and verifying the fulfillment of all requirements, including requirements for enhancements post implementation. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
SUMMARY OF POSITION -
Work cooperatively with users to provide analysis and technical support of custom web applications. Capture, Analyze and document software requirements from clients and internal users.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIP -
The Business Analyst reports to the Director of IT Applications
RESPONSIBILITIES -
- Act as requirements lead for medium to large projects, directing and coordinating activities.
- Analyze business processes, prepare conceptual design documents, and page mockups.
- Deriving requirements from interviews with customers and creating system requirements documents
- System Analysis and Design (including mockups and/or wireframes)
- Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Business Process Reengineering
- Development of user stories and use cases
- Create detailed technical specifications working closely with users and developers in modifying, developing, debugging, and testing programs
- Work cooperatively with other IT team members to support a wide variety of software. Handle support tickets that are evaluated to need modification/bug fixes. Ensure that ticketing and change management policies are followed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Requires bachelor’s degree, or at least 8 years of experience working with and performing web application software requirements gathering.
- Business Process Development documentation in UML is a huge plus
- Experience with Azure DevOps or Modern Requirements management tools a must
- Requires good analytical skills.
- Have a working knowledge of technical modeling techniques.
- Experience using software tools to create web page mockups.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- A comprehensive understanding of basic business processes and applicable work experience in a banking or supply-chain oriented business is preferred.
- Project management skills a plus. A working knowledge of programming languages and scripting language (SQL) a plus.
- Excellent phone/remote, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Must be problem solution oriented. Have exceptional interviewer, probing and influencing skills.
