Job Description

We are currently seeking a Data Analyst to join the Research & Data Science team for a short-term 3-month role. This role will provide a key contribution by setting up and automating data pulls for the District's partnerships with research entities and external organizations. The data analyst will be proficient in R and SQL, so that they can query and wrangle data for research partners. They will query various different data sources, wrangle and munge data to set up recurring data extracts on a schedule for research partners. They will also liaise with our Data Services department to configure a Data Platform that supports current and evolving data, reporting, and integration needs,


The Data Analyst will also be significantly involved in the creation and maintenance of aligned data management standards and systems within and across departments ;supporting the design and implementation of improved data management, access, and reporting systems throughout the district; and helping to build strategic data capacity through the support of varying special projects tied to the District’s goals. Minimum Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree and/or technical or equivalent experience in mathematics, statistics, or computer science related field.  We are looking for talented people who are passionate about transforming the District and making a significant difference in the lives of public school students, parents, administrators, teachers, and employees. The ideal candidate will have most or all the following professional experiences and competencies: Essential Experiences and Competencies Demonstrated success in analyzing and interpreting quantitative data and disparate data sources to make recommendations based on findings Technical proficiency and versatility with the following skills: Writing code to pull and analyze large and complex data sets (we use R and SQL, but recognize that you may currently code in Stata, SAS, SPSS, or Python) Working reproducibly (so that colleagues can follow, continue and extend your work)Performing and interpreting fundamental statistical analyses (i.e., correlation, linear regression)Strong written and oral communication skills that enable you to work with stakeholders to gather and define requirements and research questions, and to share back information and findings with both technical and non-technical audiences Exceptional attention to detail and strong ability to catch and resolve issues along the way so that your work is trusted and grounded in quality insights Ability to persevere through challenges and layered priorities to ensure success of projects, including meeting expectations for work quality, timeliness, and collaboration Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with business intelligence applications (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, etc.), data modeling, and dashboard design
