Designation :Business Intelligence Data Engineer:
As a Business Intelligence Data Engineer in the Sales Operations team, you are responsible for two key aspects of data engineering.
Database designer: Ideal candidate need to have excellent understanding of relational and multi-dimensional data design and development techniques including star schema, snowflake schema, FACT, dimension tables and other key concepts of database design. Should have the experience in evaluating business requirements & business processes, draft the logical data models. Upon review and approval, the candidate should be able to architect and implement physical data models/database, The job also includes preparing supporting documentation when building the physical database & establishing a robust security model using industry standards and best-known methods. The candidate would be working on both on-premise as well as cloud based solutions in the near future.
Data extraction, transformation, and loading: Candidate should have expertise in ‘Source to target’ mapping, developing, deploying ETL packages and extracting data, transformation, cleansing, and data integration using SSIS from various sources. Should be experience and knowledge of various transformations like lookup, fuzzy lookup, derived columns, conditional split, data conversion, aggregation, merge join, etc.
The ideal candidate will have solid verbal and written communication skills and aptitude to develop business and technical acumen. Strong SQL development skills are a requirement of this position. The engineer will be part of an agile development team focused on delivering business value to diverse requests of varying complexity.
You will work with business analyst / leads and as a BI team, you will be involved in designing and creating business intelligence solutions that provide actionable insights to the sales team members and leadership. Primary Responsibilities
The following are some of the responsibilities, skills and tasks that are expected from the candidate:
- Understand the organization’s data and business domain to skillfully architect and carry out the department’s database design projects. It would also help determine purpose of database.
- Install and configure relational database management system
- Design logical and physical database schemas and create databases.
- Conduct data research on query large and complex datasets to provide the best data modelling solutions. Gather information that will be recorded in database.
- Knowledge of ETL processes.
- Establish security model for database access.
- Track the performance of the databases and fix issues quickly to facilitate smooth functioning
- Use the best techniques for enhanced scalability and efficiency of large databases
- Data modeling and normalization techniques. Database querying and performance tuning knowledge. Database internals specific to the database engine required by the customer.
- Knowledge of business intelligence and reporting.
- Set up table relationships, define keys to maintain referential integrity and querying efficiency.
- Apply normalization rules to ensure tables are structured correctly.
- Create data migration/conversion techniques for system conversions or upgrades.
- Knowledge and experience in Reporting and Analytic solutions using Microsoft SQL Server Business Intelligence tools, SAP Hana/Business Objects and Tableau is desired.
- Partner with analysts to understand reporting and metric needs and to improve the overall efficiency through effective reporting.
- Work with teams to deliver effective, high-value reporting solutions by leveraging an established delivery methodology.
- Provide architectural, functional and process guidance on system capabilities and solution approaches.
- Coordinating with the Information Technology (IT) department as needed.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ of experience in business analysis with emphasis on business intelligence, data warehousing, and advanced analytics projects
- Strong experience in end to end software development life cycle including data extract, transform and load (ETL) development, visualization, testing and deployment
- Strong database knowledge, database administration skills, and experience with the Enterprise Data Warehouse
- Development experience with one or more data visualization/reporting tools (Tableau, Qlik, Business Objects, Hana Analytics, Microsoft Reporting Services, Hana Analytics
- Experience in Dashboard and Scorecard creation
- Well versed T-SQL and with BI tools like Microsoft BI tool stack (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS), Tableau etc.
- General purpose programming languages is desired (Python, JavaScript, C++, Windows PowerShell, Visual Basic) and/or web development languages
- Strong Analysis Services development skills including proven experience creating complex MDX and DAX queries.
- Familiarity with SAP (ECC, APO, BW), SFDC is desired.
- Demonstrated strong problem solving skills
