What you will be doing

Our organization relies on its central engineering workforce to develop and maintain applications, legacysystems of our clients across the world. As a VP of Engineering you will lead several of our centralengineering teams that get to work on a dozen different problems every quarter -- you ll never get boredagain.

The VP s success is measured based on the quality and productivity of his organization. You are expectedto drive continuous weekly improvements to attain a much higher value than most other IT servicescompanies. You will use your acquired technical depth as a former highly skilled developer and architect tocontinuously deep-dive into different teams, inspecting their processes and work-units in-order to come upwith great improvement insights.

The above deep-insights will be translated by you to:

  • Technical Design Documents Creating and maintaining documents related to design,implementation and delivery for the projects/teams
  • Coaching Plan - a weekly documented plan for how each of your Engineering Managers canimprove his/her (and his/her team s) performance
  • Process Improvement - Implement changes to the team's process that either improves the team'squality or eliminates waste

We follow the Tech stacks of our clients which are primarily Java, Node and Python with Angular frontend. A lot of our clients are on AWS cloud and use its native features. We are working on Oracle, MS SQLand Mongo DBs for our clients. Any experience with Mobile Development (Android, iOS, Hybrid), C++and Microsoft technologies is a strong plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a fully distributed remote engineering group that is part of our central engineeringfunction
  • Establish high-quality world-class standards and technical operations to deliver as part of ourbroadportfolio Technology Services
  • Provide coaching to your managers and team members - help them grow
  • Engage and align top talent through strong recruitment, mentoring, hands-on architecturalleadership and career management
  • Enable delivery of increasing amounts of high-quality, on-target software.
  • Guide, coach, and mentor software development teams and engineers.
  • Provide project management and technical leadership for every aspect of development.
  • Supervise architecture plus lead efforts to develop technical roadmap for all projects.
  • Establish best practices SDLC standards and processes.
  • Conduct design and code reviews to ensure software quality in support of business goals.
  • Evaluate projects; develop and update schedules plus supervise project status.
  • Simplify or optimize systems to reduce cost while improving resiliency and performance.
  • Ensure projects with multiple system dependencies are well-coordinated.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to influence and improve products.
  • Develop relations with internal customers to understand all individual requirements.
  • Manage and execute software development projects from beginning to finish.
  • Manage vendor partners to ensure cost-effective, high-quality services are provided.
  • Supervise resource allocation to ensure timely delivery while meeting personnel development goals.
  • Communicate effectively with all team members as well as hold regular team meetings.

Candidate Requirement

  • Excellent technical expertise in software development, software architecture, quality assurance,cloud infrastructure and automated deployments using CI/CD tools
  • Minimum of 10 years hands-on software development and architecture experience
  • Minimum of 5 years in a software engineering leadership position such as CTO, Head ofDevelopment, VP Engineering or Director of Engineering
  • Leading at least 2 multidisciplinary software teams, with an overall head-count of more than 30engineers, structured such that you were responsible for goal setting, performance measurement,and hiring/ firing decisions (direct reporting lines - a MUST)
  • Experience in building high-performing teams and scalable best-practices in an engineeringorganization
  • Experience in the development of service oriented architecture applications, good understanding ofObject Oriented Design and Design Patterns.
  • Setting aggressive goals for your teams and direct reports.
  • A technically dominant and opinionated lead aspiring for continuous improvement across his/herorganization
  • Exceptional communication and writing skills in English language
  • At least Bachelor s Degree from a top tier university/college in India
