- The candidate will be a member of a global consulting team, playing a senior role in enterprise database architecture projects, including Oracle database builds, upgrades, migrations, support, performance tuning and assistance with design
- The position involves a mixture of project delivery and support activities. The individual filling this position is expected to provide support incident ownership, resolution of database related issues, maintenance activities, patching, tuning etc
- The candidate should be highly experienced with Oracle Database 12c+, RAC and Data Guard.
- Expert knowledge of Oracle Exadata architecture including Database Machines, Storage Cells, networking and database functionality specific to Exadata
- Proven track record of several successful Exadata deployments
- Benchmarking Exadata to prove value when compared to alternative hardware platforms
- Review of suitability of applications for migration to Exadata and methods of achieving migration with minimal downtime
- Expert level skills in Redhat and Oracle Enterprise Linux including network configuration, network bonding and storage multipathing
- Ability to troubleshoot and identify issues peripheral to the database such as network, server and storage root causes.
- Oracle Database and Grid Infrastructure installation and upgrade
- The individual is expected to have excellent written and verbal communication skills and to carry out customer facing activities
- The candidate must be able to deliver within agreed timelines and budgets, managing and completing projects and support activities within customer expectations SLAs, while proactively escalating any issues that cannot be resolved within the established timeframes
- The individual will be responsible for initiating and performing changes on enterprise production systems
- The candidate must be able to lead database migrations (including Cross Platform Migrations), tuning, operationalization, and support efforts for Oracle database enterprise environments
- Experience should include database container (CDB) and pluggable (PDB) database administration, snapshot and clone management, etc.
- The individual is expected to perform database maintenance and optimizations tasks such as index usage analysis, index management, statistics, partition management, data compression, etc.
- The candidate will carry out performance tuning and optimization, using monitoring and troubleshooting tools including Oracle Enterprise Manager, RDA, Orachk etc
- The candidate will design and implement automation solutions for routine tasks, system reporting, alerts, and notifications using OEM 12c and custom scripts
Necessary Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:
- 8+ years of Oracle DBA experience
- 4+ years of Oracle Exadata experience
- Previous consulting experience is essential
- BS degree in Computing or other related field, or equivalent experience
Advantageous Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Exadata on Cloud and Exadata Cloud at Customer
- Knowledge of Oracle Database Appliance (ODA) and ZFS Storage Appliance
- Knowledge of cross platform replication, e.g. GoldenGate
- Knowledge of cloud platforms, including OCI, AWS Azure and GCP
- Knowledge of other databases, including MS SQL, Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB
- Knowledge of Oracle applications, including eBusiness Suite and Flexcube
- Knowledge of automation, including use of Ansible
- Unix skills in Solaris, HP/UX and AIX
- Award of Oracle certifications
