Overview:

The State of Michigan is working to transform how our community interacts with state government.  As a UX Designer on the User Experience team, you will join a small group of designers responsible for the entire customer journey of high-impact projects across all of state government.  You will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, developers, and other designers and be a voice for our users.  From conducting up front user research to iterating on prototypes to shipping a final product, you’ll help drive the entire design process. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead product experiences by iteratively validating and refining prototypes with stakeholders and end users.
  • Gather insights through user research by facilitating workshops, interviews, focus groups, and usability testing.
  • Challenge the “status quo” and propose innovative solutions to complex business problems.
  • Create and maintain components in our enterprise design system.
  • Collaborate with other designers and join in on design reviews to challenge your teammates in constructive ways.
  • Conduct information architecture activities and make recommendations on complex navigational structures.

 

Skills:

  • 5+ years of overall experience in application UX design
  • Experience with wireframing and prototyping tools (Figma, Sketch, or equivalent)
  • Experience with design systems and reusable components
  • Experience leading user workshops and facilitating sessions
  • Experience with quantitative results-driven design techniques
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and best practices
  • Experience with information architecture
