This role develops and delivers requirements, suggests high level design, and ensures on-time delivery for various projects from business users. Drive identification of requirements for new projects as well as improvements to existing processes for various business units. Suggest data structure designs that meet user requirements to extract and organize data in United’s data warehouse and data lake environments for authorized individuals to access. Identify internal and external data sources, collaborate with departments outside Data Engineering to determine their data storage and organizational needs, and use the information to create and maintain data infrastructure for company employees.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Evaluate, analyze, and communicate systems requirements on a continuing basis, and maintain systems processes, including the delivery of periodic status reports to appropriate parties
• Author and update internal documentation, and formally initiate and deliver requirements and documentation
• Analyze and test deliverables to ensure quality, maximize effectiveness, and identify and troubleshoot problems
• ***High proficiency SQL (Teradata, Microsoft, and Spark dialects) and database management required
• Partner with other stakeholder teams across business units (i.e., Loyalty, Marketing, Sales) to develop necessary analysis and documentation in a collaborative way, communicating effectively and efficiently with production, managerial, and executive teams
• Determine and develop user requirements for systems in production, to ensure maximum performance, efficiency, and usability
• Create and implement precise management plans for every project, with attention to transparent communication and on-time delivery
• Research and evaluate data sources to determine potential limitations in usability or reliability
• Apply sampling and other techniques to effectively determine and define data layouts
• Compare and analyze provided statistical information to identify patterns, relationships, and problems
• Prepare detailed reports for management and other departments by analyzing and interpreting data
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science or related field
• Strong math and analytical skills are essential
• Experience with AWS Redshift
• Knowledge of AWS S3, RDS, and Athena preferred
• Working knowledge of Python preferred
• Able to compile and organize statistical information retrieved and present findings to management
• Experience working with private and sensitive personal information
• Confident in decision making and the ability to explain processes or choices as needed
• Strong computer skills and ability to use necessary databases and software
• Interpersonal and customer service skills are required when meeting with and interviewing potential clients
• Excellent multitasking skills and task management strategies
• Ability to complete milestones and work toward multiple deadlines simultaneously
• Proven experience in an analytics and systems development
• Practical experience generating process documentation and reports
