Client is looking for a Network Security Engineer to join our mission-critical team. This position will involve implementing firewall changes and troubleshooting firewall issues for the various business units within our enterprise environment and for our customers.  The majority of the daily work will involve working tickets out of the two main help desk ticket systems as well as installation, upgrades, and decommissioning of firewall equipment.  This is a fast-paced, critical position that requires the ability to adhere to best practices, adhere to internal standards and procedures, and work under demanding deadlines.

There is an on-call rotation as part of this position, and you would be required to carry a company-provided cell phone for urgent customer calls.

This position can be based to work out of any Client Location or remote from any US location.

Responsibilities: -

Ø  Researches, recommends and implements changes to enhance systems security.

Ø  Designs and builds various network monitoring systems and tools.

Ø  Provides assistance to less experienced team members.

Ø  Responds to alerts and security related issues. 

Ø  Performs incident response and handles escalated cases; identifies unauthorized access to systems; may inventory computers for unauthorized programs and policy violations.

Ø  Provides moderately complex troubleshooting and customer support regarding security related issues. 

Ø  Configures firewall rules for both internal and external customers

Ø  Conducts life-cycle management of firewalls within the environment

Ø  Ensures documentation for all firewall rules are completed in accordance to internal policies and other industry regulations.

Ø  Completes security-related projects as assigned.

Ø  May perform additional tasks as assigned.

Ø  What the contractor will need to have:

Ø  Must have a minimum of 4 years of experience in network technology, firewall, and/or information security in a large enterprise environment.

Ø  What would be nice for you to have:  

Ø  Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Ø  Networking and/or security industry-standard certifications.

In addition to the Job Description:

Ø  Extensive Cisco NGFW (Next-Gen Firewall) experience

Ø  Cisco CDO (Cisco Defense Orchestrator) experience

Ø  Extensive Cisco IPS Firepower experience

Ø  Moderate level of understanding on networking including routers

Ø  Primary focus for these contractors will be upgrades of systems targeted for this budget year while providing knowledge transfer to existing team members during the upgrades

Ø  Cloud Firewall (GCP, Azure, AWS) experience a bonus
