PGCB is consolidating the functionality of its existing self-exclusion system into a single web-based application with a new, mobile-friendly UI. This effort will require a senior developer\architect with a strong background in responsive web design

This position is with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB). The PGCB maintains a self-exclusion program which allows individuals with gambling addictions or problem gambling habits to be temporarily or permanently banned from gaming activities within the Commonwealth. Several applications were developed over the years to administrate the lists of banned individuals and provide them to the required licensees. The scope of the system was later expanded to allow individuals to sign up for the program online.

Several issues, however, have been identified with the existing system, including the use of outdated technologies, lack of full mobile support as well as support issues with some of the system’s third-party service providers.

To correct these issues, the PGCB is consolidating the functionality of its existing self-exclusion system into a single web-based application with a new, mobile-friendly UI. This application will be accessible by licensees, patrons and PGCB employees alike. This effort will require a senior developer\architect with a strong background in responsive web design. Applicants will be expected to analyze the functions of the existing system and integrate them appropriately into the new solution. Applicants should be familiar with agile development and be prepared to work closely with the PGCB development team and all required stakeholders. They should have proven experience with hands-on technical development, experience designing and architecting systems as a member of a design team and strong verbal communication skills. Applicants will be expected to meet in-person with the PGCB development team for the first week of the project for an orientation to the system and to review of expected patterns and practices. Additional work will be expected to be performed remotely, though PGCB staff reserves the right to require in-person meetings as the need arises. Applicants should be quick learners who can work independently once brought up to speed with established development standards and practices.
