JOB DETAIL

The S4 Hana Data Migration Architect will support the Data Migration Project through leadership and management of enterprise-grade Data Migration Methodology emphasizing SAP’s best practices for data conversion. The Data Migration Architect is responsible for creating and executing the Data Migration Strategy and then the Data Migration Plan to support a migration from SAP ECC to a greenfield implementation of S4 Hana (v2021). The scope of data migration is extracted, transform, load, profiling, cleansing, and validation/audit reporting. The Data Migration Architect is to be proficient in SAP recommended data conversion tools including Data Services and Information Steward. Data Migration Architect is to be proficient in SAP’s Master Data Governance module. The program demands highly repeatable, highly transparent, and highly auditable migration processes. The S4 Hana Data Migration Architect must lead from experience in migrations for Global (10+ locations on all 5 continents) Supply Chain/Manufacturing companies and be able to instruct business and technical teams in best practices in migrating master, conditional, and transactional data.

The S4 Hana Data Migration Architect will, as a key member of the ERP Implementation Leadership Team, coordinate between the ETL Development team and the functional teams implementing S4 Hana. The S4 Hana Data Migration Architect will lead, guide, and help execute in the following areas: Define Data Migration Strategy, Build Data Migration Plan, Coordinate Data Leads [managing migration for each functional track], and Data Developers [building ETL programs, reports, and utilities], and Business Leads [approving requirements, functional unit testing, reconciling converted data, cleansing current state data, building/approving mapping]. The S4 Hana Data Migration Architect will work with business users to coordinate the resolution of data quality issues and ensure data is validated and ready for production deployment.

The individual must have the ability to not only promote but also persuade, business and technical partners on proper data quality and integrity principles. The role requires a strong blend of business, data, and technical skills.

Work you’ll do/Responsibilities

  1. Work with other work streams to plan, organize, design, and migrate data into the new application architecture.
  2. Advise on critical success factors in the development of data extract and transformation programs.
  3. Establish progress monitoring to communicate the degree of completion in data validation and preparation across all functional areas
  4. Manage the escalation and resolution of issues.
  5. Work with business and technical partners on improving data integrity and quality.
  6. Maintain documentation on data finalization preparation.
  7. Coordinate data validation and business sign-off.

Qualifications Required

To fulfill this role, the S4 Hana Data Migration Architect must have extensive experience leading enterprise-size S4 data migrations using SAP-defined best practices in processes, governance, and tools [Extract, Transform, Load, Reconciliation].

  1. S4 Hana data migration experience as Lead Data Migration Architect
  2. S4 Hana data migration experience for multi-national, 10+ global locations
  3. SAP’s Master Data Governance Module
  4. Data Services 4.3
  5. Information Steward
  6. Experience managing business activities related to defining reconciliation methods, audit reporting/packages, data cleansing, mapping, extract requirements, transformation requirements, and defect resolution
  7. 10+ years of experience working with IT projects, data modeling, and/or conversion.
  8. Very strong technical skills with at least 8+ years of hands-on design, coding, integration, and deployment experience in ERP implementations.
  9. Excellent problem-solving skills.
