JOB DETAIL

The candidate is expected to be familiar with the following basic system administration tasks: System configuration. Experience in Linux and Solaris environment. NFS, NIS and DNS configuration, administration, maintenance and troubleshooting. Experience with auto mount file system, query DNS server, NIS commands. Basic UNIX experience such as process inspection/ termination, UNIX permissions, etc. NFS Fundamentals. Candidates must know how to share, mount and unmount directories. Process inspection and termination. Candidates must be familiar with top, ps, ptree, kill, lsof, pfiles, prun, pstop etc. Basic understanding of Linux and Solaris OS (boot process, initlevels) - candidates must understand the boot process of Solaris and the init levels to be able to troubleshoot startup and shutdown issues. Responsibilities Handle tier 2 and/ or tier 3 helpdesk requests for support of the design engineers. This person is responsible for triage of incoming support calls, and working tickets that come through the Remedy CRM. Installing new engineering SW tools into Unix share network storage environment. Installing and updating flexlm server based license management. Interacting with engineers to provide service delivery and customer satisfaction, in a mode consistent with documented processes and procedures. Escalate unresolved issues to UNIX System Administrators handling Business Unit Support or Operations. Exercise professional concepts, apply company policies and procedures to a variety of issues.
