JOB DETAIL

Reports to                                        VP, Projects

Working relationships:                    All departments as required by position, including but not exclusive to: Marketing, Finance, HR, IT and Legal/Compliance teams. Additionally, various retail operators and operations support (Central Authorization, Contact Centers)

PROFILE

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in management, business, or a related field. Certified Associate in Project Management, Project Management Professional and other credentials from the Project Management Institute preferred.
  • A college degree in Computer Science or the equivalent technical experience

Experience:

  • 4+ years of Project Management experience/5-10 years’ experience in a similar or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience and success with understanding/improving business process, business system, project management and finance discipline
  • 3-5 years working in a software development environment
  • Demonstrated problem analysis and resolution at both a strategic and functional level
  • Experience working with various financial services products, retail and digital programs
  • Mid to senior level Technical Project Manager
  • Experience in the financial services industry (Experience with digital projects within this industry)

Other skills:

  • Familiarity with Agile Project Management. Preference for PMI Agile Certification
  • Exceptional leadership, planning, organizational and communications/ interpersonal skills and conflict management
  • Proficient in financial analysis and experience in supporting technology initiatives
  • Ability to travel and manage very diverse work groups on a wide variety of complex and concurrent projects while meeting initiated deadlines
  • A subject matter expert using PM tools such as: charters, Microsoft Project, Azure Dev Ops and other work collaboration tools. Deep understanding of SQL and database stored procedures
  • Strong working knowledge of software development tools and techniques
  • Working knowledge of the techniques of systems analysis, design, and development
  • Understanding of how to provide automated solutions including analysis, system design, program development, documentation, user training and implementation
  • Provide technical direction by coordinating, assigning, inspecting, monitoring, and appraising the work of others

 

JOB FUNCTION/SUMMARY

This position is responsible for managing all Project Lifecycle phases across various projects in the business. These may include digital enhancements and applications, new online and retail products among others. This role has a heavy dependency on understanding business aspects, software development lifecycle, and data flow.

RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES

Project Management

  • Project management and execution of all key corporate, retail, technical and digital initiatives as assigned through the PMO
  • Oversee all aspects of projects – including setting deadlines, assigning responsibilities and team coordination while ensuring all projects are completed on time, within budget and scope defined
  • Monitor and summarize progress of projects
  • Help sponsors define the scope and requirements of their initiatives based on available skills and resources, offer alternative approaches and identify the risk vs. reward elements of those approaches
  • Understanding of available resources and skills; the ability to turn features into revenue, operational efficiencies, etc.; and the ability to discuss and determine the appropriate compromises around risk and quality.
  • Ensure that at project close out, all benefits set out at the onset of the project have been realized Support the focus on effective and efficient project execution.
  • understanding of the business drivers to all assigned initiatives
  • run projects like businesses with an understanding of the pros and cons of different approaches
  • facilitate the role as an expert in Project mgmt.
  • Understand technology landscape for software development and infrastructure services. Guide various teams to the design solution.

 

Application Management and Ownership

  • Acts as a Subject Matter expert on application functionalities
  • Act as a bridge between the product team and the software developers, understanding both sides and facilitate the discussions between the groups

Technical Expertise

  • internal expert and provide a consulting role in determining the best solution.
  • facilitate the conversation between IT and business

Compliance/Operational Controls/Procedures

  • Ensure all compliance/legal review and sign off is part of project planning.
  • Work closely alongside business partners to ensure their requirements are addressed and met in the project plan/charter/BRD.
  • Identify and bring forward any compliance/legal related risks while managing all projects
