  • Our crypto-currency financial messaging partner SWIFT in Manassas, VA provides government support to the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission and private sector clients including Coinbase and Robinhood.
  • SWIFT is hiring a client-facing Network Engineer with a completed bachelor’s degree, a CompTIA or Cisco Certification along with 5+ years’ DevOps experience supporting enterprise AWS cloud-based and on-premises server environments operating UNIX, TCP/IP, SNMP and NMS.
  • SWIFT is seeking a network professional who can perform Java design/development tasks in addition to Perl, Python or Shell scripts on Unix Systems within an Agile/SCRUM environment.
  • The objective of the Network Engineer role is to help modernize SWIFT’s client systems involving mobile and web-based applications toward big data solutions for 24/7 efficiency without load issues after effective performance tuning is evaluated.

 

  1. Design, develop, test, install and support programs/systems. Support projects proposals based on cost/benefit justification interfacing with stakeholders across functional and geographical lines.
  2. Meet with customers to understand needs and requirements and make recommendations on best practice systems solutions for small to medium size/complexity/risk projects.
  3. Analyze detail systems factors: input/output requirements, information flow, hardware and software requirements, alternative approaches, etc.
  4. Validate alternative problem management proposals and make decisions on solutions.
  5. Provide technical assistance to other SWIFT colleagues and assist in resolving problems reported by less senior team members.
  6. Provide technical guidance to customers and act as mentor to less senior team members. May give presentations to management and customers.
  7. May prepare and complete systems documentation and operating procedures.
  8. May lead design review meetings for small to medium size/complexity/risk projects.
  9. May coordinate and monitor the activities, such as schedules and costs, of a small project team.
  10. Evaluate and recommend technical feasibility and estimates of the proposed systems solutions.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in developing complex software using Java or other programming languages
  • 2+ years of experience in developing complex logic using scripting languages such as Perl, Python or Shell on Unix-based operating systems.
  • 2+ years of experience with UNIX, TCP/IP, SNMP and NMS.
  • 2+ years of understanding a large enterprise network
  • 1+ years of understanding of the various network functions: Routing, Switching, Load Balancing, Firewall etc.
  • CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) or CompTIA Network+ certification highly preferred.
  • Experience in Agile Scrum
