Tasks and responsibilities will include the following but not limited to:
- Understand where your team is on meeting sprint/PI goals: Be proactive on assessing where team members are on their deliverables. Are tasks being finished on time? Has someone been stuck too long? Be proactive and escalate issues as necessary.
- Ensure code quality of the team: As the senior member of a team, you’ll be responsible to ensure code is up to par during code reviews and ensure team members are meeting definition of done.
- Understand the full requirements of your app: As the team lead, you’ll be looked at as the person that understands the full requirements of the team’s app. Understand requirements and understand the dependencies with other pieces of the system.
- Watch for team dynamics: Personalities differ, and it’s not uncommon that there are conflicts/misunderstandings between team members. Be a moderator and conciliator, and when necessary, escalate to project management.
- Create a culture of learning: Make it a goal that your team members will become better developers for being on your team and this project. Foment a learning culture.
- Master your domain: You will most likely focus on a specific area(s) in the overall system. Become the primary go to person for solutions and questions in your focus area(s).
- Create opportunities for growth: Identify developers that can take on more responsibility and actively give them more challenging tasks. Don’t hog all the complex and/ or interesting tasks.
- Risk management: Know when it is appropriate to take a risk and when it should wait or not be taken at all. Make sure you team understands the risk and understands the plan to manage the risk. Consult with project architects and/ or other team leads as needed to assess the risk.
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
- Spring framework concepts, Spring boot
- REST, SOAP web services
- Authentication mechanisms (SAML, OAuth)
- Multi-threading (concurrency)
- Hibernate, Oracle, and Postgres databases
- JMeter, unit, functional testing
- Agile development experience
- Minimum of 2 years of overall development experience
