JOB DETAIL

The Agile Coach will analyze the organization's existing structure and implement improvements to help streamline processes and create efficiencies. The role is responsible for coaching and mentoring Product Owners, Technical leads, Team Leads, QA leads and Directors to leverage agile principles, practices and frameworks in order to deliver high value business capabilities. The coach will serve as a subject matter expert on introducing agile and scaling agile across the rest of the organization. Our Senior Agile Coach will embrace servant leadership and display behaviors that come with the key mindset shifts associated with being agile.

Ultimately, the coach will play a key role in the long-term strategy across the entire organization, helping our teams to deliver better solutions in a faster, more efficient manner.

Objectives of this Role

  • Work with teams to analyze current systems and processes and design a strategy for the adoption of agile best practices
  • Guide teams to help them stay on track with agile techniques, fine-tuning approaches as needed to ensure the overall strategy is being met
  • Promote and advocate a culture of continuous improvement, setting goals and milestones and being accountable for them
  • Drive cultural change by championing an agile mindset and ensure the organization is at the forefront of industry best practices 

Responsibilities

  • Effectively communicate agile principles, scrum practices and overall operating model across the organization
  • Serve as the subject matter expert to instill a culture of measurement with respect to both the impact of the change to the business and the effectiveness of the system of delivery
  • Facilitate learning and development through individual and team coaching
  • Coach senior management in agile practices to ensure adoption of best practices from top-down
  • Champion the use of metrics and other objective measures across teams
  • Help teams continuously reflect and improve, becoming more effective in their roles and increasing their predictability, collaboration, and quality practices
  • Keep an objective perspective on issues and troubleshoots by applying agile principles
  • Hold stand-up meetings with cross-functional teams to review project status, where needed
  • Support teams in determining the resource allocation to maintain agile practices and ensure smooth project delivery
  • Perform ongoing assessment of agile maturity
  • Spend time with Digital Leadership to better understand our strengths, our weaknesses and our misconceptions of Agile SDLC
  • Working with senior leadership, you will align with the organization’s North Star and identify the initial, critical steps (and the metrics that go with them) in getting us performant as an Agile organization
  • You will host a scrum of scrum meetings with senior leadership to identify metrics and how the teams are performing against their milestones


Skills and Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience as an Agile Coach
  • Experience in Scrum, Kanban, and Scaled Agile Frameworks (SAFe)
  • Experience running agile projects of varying size and complexity
  • Strong leader, educator, and coach
  • An excellent communicator and motivator
  • Adaptive coaching style with the ability to work with teams at various levels and in different locations
  • Experience working with Continuous Integration, Test Driven Development and Continuous Delivery
  • Experience with pair programming/work (e.g., writing user stories with product owners)
  • Experience with automated testing frameworks and technologies to better facilitate SDLCs
  • Familiarity with the product development lifecycle for both enterprise on-premise as well as SaaS products
  • Tools: Jira, Confluence
