Data & Analytics team is looking to improve its program and vendor evaluation pipeline by building experience that embraces cutting-edge methods, empowers Data Scientists with quantitative tools to understand the complexity of evaluations, and promotes an enterprise-wide understanding of interventional impact.  Corporate Data & Analytics is hiring Data Scientists / Outcomes Researchers to develop methods and tools to assess program and vendor efforts underway and to contribute to strategic and contractual planning for the future.  The evaluations will focus on a wide variety of metrics with visualizations to ensure a comprehensive understanding of their impact on our members.   Reporting to the Manager of Advanced Analytics, the Data Scientist / Outcomes Researcher will drive efforts to leverage data and evaluation methods to ensure that Data Science’s quantitative toolkit can take on a rigorous evaluation lifecycle.  This role will work closely with other Data Scientists and Business Owners to design and conduct research studies, document the impact of programs and vendors, and disseminate results to help inform change within. The Data  Scientist / Outcomes Researcher will also provide analytic guidance and support to other teams within Corporate Data & Analytics.  

Position Description   This role will conduct evaluations in Corporate Data & Analytics and support stakeholders across . In addition, the Data Scientists will:

  • Determine a plan of action for the assessment of key programs and vendors.
  • Gather, clean, analyze, synthesize, and interpret both quantitative and qualitative data.
  • Conduct literature reviews and support strategic recommendations for innovations by communicating findings.
  • Develop tools for rapid data collation and evaluation.
  • Conduct and summarize program and vendor evaluations for distribution to key stakeholders.
  • Present results to various stakeholders at meetings.
  • Provide analytic guidance to team members across Corporate Data & Analytics.
  • Create evaluation plans, including causal models and identifying key outcomes of interest.

Basic Qualifications  

  • Masters' Degree in a field with a focus on statistics is required such as Epidemiology, Population Health, Demography, Data Science, Analytics, and Health Informatics.
  • 5 years of relevant experience in program or vendor assessment and evaluation. Work completed as a student may count toward the experience.
  • Deep understanding and experience with propensity-score matching, inferential and causal statistics, and study design.
  • Advanced, applied knowledge in programming in SAS and SQL required.
  • Experience with MS Office tools, especially with PowerPoint.
  • Experience and demonstrated ability with effectively communicating analytic results and information in a clear and understandable manner, both verbally and in writing.

  Additional Qualifications and Skills  

  • Ph.D. with a quantitative focus preferred.
  • Experience with reporting, analysis, and data visualization tools (e.g., Python, R, STATA, Tableau, etc.)
  • Excellent analytical and research skills; ability to gather, evaluate, and develop well-reasoned conclusions and recommendations.
  • Excellent judgment, analytical and problem-solving skills with a collaborative approach to addressing issues and opportunities.
  • Strong attention to detail with ability to consistently demonstrate sound judgment and flexibility as well as strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills; proven ability to independently plan, organize, and implement team-based projects with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to initiate, establish, and foster communication and teamwork by maintaining a positive, cooperative, productive work atmosphere with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with the research pipeline and the process of conducting research.
  • Experience with claims data or clinical/medical knowledge a plus.
