a consultant to work with one of our clients in the utilities and telecommunications space. The consultant will be responsible for the maintenance and development of air pressure monitoring applications run by the client. These applications are based in SQL, running on Ruby rules- and used to sort alarm messages/notifications coming from engineering and operations departments.
- There is currently a permanent employee supporting this function who is retiring soon. This consultant will learn the application from them for the first portion of the engagement until they are able to run it on their own. At this point, the employee will step back and serve as Tier 2 support for the application until they retire. The application is currently not documented, so the majority of work on this engagement will be documenting the application in addition to maintaining and updating it.
Experience:
- 3-10 years of experience
- Strong experience developing applications with SQL
- Very strong experience documenting applications built in SQL and Ruby
- Strong experience with Ruby language, and strong working knowledge of Ruby programming rules
- Previous industry experience in utilities is preferred but not required
