JOB DETAIL


The Senior Software Developer provides software development services to the IT/Systems and IT/Technology group in support of Internet applications, Intranet applications, web services, and custom application creation needs. Responsible for design, coding, implementation, and support of in-house-developed applications using the standards promulgated by the department. The Senior Systems is responsible for providing programming and software development services inclusive but not limited to the following technologies: VB.NET, ASP.NET, C#, SQL, HTML, CSS, XML, XSLT, SOAP, WCF, VBA, and Microsoft Access. Responsible for maintenance and support of vendor-supplied applications, as required. Provides technical evaluations of prospective vendor-supplied software purchases to management and users. They will also mentor the Systems Analyst's on staff and provide guidance and suggestions for projects.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Interacts with users to ascertain the functional requirements for Internet/intranet web applications and web services, and produces design and implementation specifications.

2. Interacts with external vendors to ascertain functional requirements for vendor interfaces and produces design and implementation specifications.

3. Provides oversight of external vendors as needed.

4. Utilizes software tools in the development environment to design, code, and implement Internet and Intranet web applications and interactive functions.

5. Interacts with and supervises contractors and/or vendors hired for application development or implementation.

6. Works with management in determining how application development and implementation can achieve strategic goals.

7. Provides implementation and maintenance support for the network-and PC based applications supported by Information Technology.

8. Maintains application documentation including application notes, drawings, code annotations, and configuration information.

9. Proactively and effectively communicate changes within the IT infrastructure to all effected parties. Follow and document strict testing and deployment methodologies for IT Operations.

10. Make High-Level Architectural decisions for new systems.

11. Analyze changes to existing systems and their impact to related systems.

12. Provide consultation to colleagues on system, programming, and architectural challenges.

13. Implement all layers of multitier applications.

14. Keep current on regulatory changes.

15. Mentor new employees and occasionally direct the work of others.

 

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Five years of experience and/or training.

• Experience in leading projects where teamwork and project management skills are required.

• Experience in all facets of software development.

• Experience with the following technologies is required: ASP.NET, C#, SQL, HTML, CSS, XML, XSLT, SOAP, WCF, VB.NET.

• Experience with HIPAA, Integration Engines, EDI and Health Care X12 Transactions preferred.
