Job Discription:
§ Must have bachelor’s degree in computer science and 3+ years’ experience in a UI development role.
§ Understanding of the WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) 2.0/2.1 AA guidelines, ADA Title III, and basic accessibility design principles.
§ Strong understanding of digital platforms, design principles, techniques, design systems and frameworks.
§ Strong working knowledge and practical experience with applying proper semantic HTML markup, CSS, JavaScript, UI Frameworks (Angular/React), testing technologies such as unit tests, integration tests and UI tests, accessible coding best practices and WAI ARIA, Native Mobile Accessibility best practices (IOS & Android).
§ The ability to conduct accessibility testing with assistance against the WCAG 2.0/2.1 (AA) Success Criteria requirements using the following methodologies: o visual analysis, color sampling o screen reader reviews, keyboard only, gesture only; and, o code reviews
§ Experience with automated testing for accessibility.
§ Organizational, coordination and multi-tasking experience.
§ Analytical and problem-solving experience with large-scale systems.
§ Strong knowledge of the range of assistive technologies, which may include JAWS®, NVDA, Voiceover, Window-Eyes, ZoomText or other speech recognition software.
§ Empathy and understanding of disabilities and impairments that affect the way people use the web.
§ Experience working in highly collaborative software development environments on large, complex desktop web, mobile web, and mobile applications.
§ Ability to manage multiple projects at one time with attention to detail.
§ Analytical and problem-solving experience with large-scale systems.
§ Available for all Office Hours times in the AM and PM CST time so tech questions can be addressed.
Experience/skills preferred: • Certified IAAP Web Accessibility Specialist (WAS) •
