SQL Server Performance Analyst duties and Responsibilities:

•             Performance analyst who has 10+ yrs. of experience on MS SQL server.

•             Performance tuning, designing would be primary functions; hence knowledge of index/performance tuning, code optimization, SQL joins and related algorithms is mandatory.

•             Strong experience in dealing with huge volume of data.

•             Expertise in Data Modeling for ODS and Datawarehouse solutions and having strong knowledge of data warehouse concepts, design techniques and E2E implementation.

•             Sound understanding of NL, hash and merge sort joins, and ability to decipher query execution plans.

•             Ability to manage the DB server resources efficiently.

•             Knowledge of different type of locking mechanisms and deadlock/blocking prevention.

•             Sound knowledge of index specifications based on application and SQL requirements, and to determine redundant indexes.

•             Assist multiple groups and their developers with stored proc, query tuning and schema designing, refinement etc.; should be able to refactor the code.

•             Define coding, designing, deployment standards, help in automate regular processes, overnight batches, track issues, and document changes.

•             Ensure current DB infrastructure is maintain according to current service level agreements.

•             DB and SQL agent IOPS and ability to catch resource bottlenecks.

•             Knowledge of DB and DB object maintenance activities, capacity planning, data backup/archival planning, and related functions.

•             Collaborate with developers to tune the resource intensive SQL queries/stored procedures.

•             Expert knowledge Transact SQL and ability to debug the same.

•             MS SQL Server SME.
