A ServiceNow developer is responsible for designing,developing, and implementing solutions within the ServiceNow platform to meetthe needs of an organization. They work closely with stakeholders to understandbusiness requirements and translate them into functional and technical designs.Here is a comprehensive job description for a ServiceNow developer:

Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and understand business processes to design and develop efficient and effective solutions on the ServiceNow platform.
  2. Design, develop, configure, and customize ServiceNow applications, modules, workflows, forms, and reports based on business requirements.
  3. Develop and maintain ServiceNow integrations with other systems, such as Active Directory, LDAP, email, and external web services.
  4. Perform system and application administration tasks, including system upgrades, patching, and performance tuning.
  5. Create and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, system architecture, and process flows.
  6. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, system administrators, and quality assurance, to ensure successful deployment and maintenance of ServiceNow solutions.
  7. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues and defects related to ServiceNow platform and custom applications.
  8. Conduct unit testing, integration testing, and performance testing to ensure the quality and reliability of developed solutions.
  9. Stay up to date with ServiceNow platform enhancements, new features, and industry best practices to recommend and implement process improvements.
  10. Provide end-user training and support to ensure successful adoption and utilization of ServiceNow applications.

JobRequirements:

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  2. Strong experience in ServiceNow development, including configuration, customization, and scripting (JavaScript, Glide API, Business Rules, UI Policies, etc.).
  3. In-depth knowledge of ServiceNow platform capabilities and modules, such as Incident Management, Change Management, Problem Management, Service Catalog, Service Portal, etc.
  4. Proficiency in web technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks (AngularJS, ReactJS, etc.).
  5. Experience in ServiceNow integrations using web services (REST, SOAP), MID Server, and Import/Export mechanisms (XML, JSON, CSV).
  6. Familiarity with ITIL processes and IT service management concepts.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  8. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  9. ServiceNow certifications, such as Certified Application Developer (CAD), Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS), or Certified System Administrator (CSA), are a plus.
  10. Prior experience in Agile software development methodologies is desirable.
