We are seeking a skilled and experienced Data Modeler with a background in Property and Casualty (P&C) Insurance. As a Data Modeler, you will play a critical role in shaping and optimizing our data architecture, ensuring efficient data management, and supporting data-driven decision-making processes within the P&C insurance domain.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Modelling and Design:
- Develop, enhance, and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models specific to Property and Casualty insurance operations.
- Collaborate with business subject matter experts, data analysts, and developers to understand data requirements and translate them into effective data models.
- Ensure data models adhere to industry standards, best practices, and company guidelines.
- Database Management:
- Design and implement database structures that support efficient data storage, retrieval, and processing for P&C insurance data.
- Optimize database performance by identifying and resolving data-related issues and bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with database administrators to maintain data integrity, security, and availability.
- Data Integration:
- Work closely with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) teams to ensure seamless integration of data from various sources into the data models.
- Develop data mapping and transformation rules to ensure data consistency and accuracy across integrated datasets.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts, data scientists, actuaries, and IT professionals, to understand data needs and provide effective solutions.
- Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring a clear understanding of data model implications.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience as a Data Modeler or Database Developer in the Property and Casualty insurance industry.
- Strong expertise in data modelling techniques and tools, such as ER/Studio, Erwin, or similar.
- Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
- Knowledge of insurance industry concepts, including policy management, claims processing, underwriting, and risk assessment.
- Familiarity with data integration processes and ETL tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Good communication skills to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with data governance, quality assurance, and best practices.
- Knowledge of emerging trends in data modelling and insurance technology is a plus.
