JOB DETAIL

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree preferably in computer science, information systems, or equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years Scrum Master experience.
  • CSM certification preferred

 

Knowledge & Experience

  • Specific knowledge of Jira, Confluence, and SQL
  • Extensive experience with Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in team leadership
  • Working technical knowledge of agile methodologies, such as Scrum, Kanban, Disciplined Agile, SAFe, and IT Service Management – ITIL.
  • Professional experience in IT Operations, Application Development, Information Security, and Call Centers.

Manages day-to-day aspects of a Scrum team, which includes leading Scrum Events (Backlog, Planning, Review, Retrospectives, and Daily Stand Ups) and be an advocate for autonomous, self-organizing, empowered, and continuously improving teams. Facilitates the scrum process on scrum teams with significant cross-functional impacts involving project, non-project, or maintenance work. This role will support customer-facing business applications and the scrum teams aligned with them, such as Marketing, Web or Mobile applications. The Scrum Master is a servant leader and champions the Agile mindset through effective guidance, coaching, education and through removal of impediments to team progress. This role is responsible for building high-performing teams focused on constantly improving team dynamics and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Guides the scrum team(s) and organization to follow generally accepted Agile/Scrum practices and daily activities to actively promote prioritization, team readiness, and commitment for each Sprint.
  • Organizes and facilitates planning, daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, demos and other Scrum-related meetings
  • Serves as the team’s radiator, ensuring necessary internal and external communication, while improving overall transparency
  • Uses empirical data to help the team(s) assess their Scrum Maturity, optimize scrum team velocity to organizational KPIs, and identify improvement opportunities to achieve higher levels of team performance.
  • Proactively addresses systemic impediments to team agility and guides the team(s) on methods to escalate when needed to prevent challenges from becoming blockers.
  • Coaches scrum team(s) to deliver capabilities using agile practices while also following the Software Development Lifecycle, business process mapping, and various release processes as appropriate to ensure all risk, security, and development requirements are met.
  • Partners with discipline managers to convey their concerns to scrum teams about governance policies and adherence to corporate standards.
  • Partners with Product Owner(s) to ensure continuous refinement of backlog, which may include stories from multiple projects.
  • Completion of some work may depend on non-agile work teams. Attend and contribute to Scrum of Scrums.
  • Drives Scrum adoption across teams and peers in the organization.
  • Facilitates and is accountable for owning the Scrum ceremonies for the scrum team(s).
  • Partners with Product Owners, Program or Project Managers to communicate delivery of work product from the scrum team(s) and escalates key risks and issues impeding scrum team effectiveness.
  • Identifies skills & competencies of scrum team members & makes adjustments accordingly to promote development and highly effective teams.
