JOB DETAIL

The SAP Basis Technical Lead is responsible for leading the implementation of Solution Manager (SolMan) components and an SAP HANA 1.x database. The efforts are to review, validate, and understand existing documentation, recommend changes (if necessary), and completely implement the solution. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in designing and deploying SolMan and designing and performing SAP HANA DB 1.00.x to 2.00.x upgrades. This role is an integral part of an initial assessment of components in preparation for an SAP Cloud migration project for a large multinational telecom customer. 

Qualifications 

Education and Work Experience: 

  • 8+ years of overall SAP experience
  • 8+ years of BASIS experience
  • 5+ years of SAP HANA experience
  • 5+ years implementing SAP
  • 2+ S/4 HANA implementation projects
  • 2+ SAP SolMan upgrades
  • 1+ SAP SolMan migration to Cloud
  • 2+ SAP HANA 1.x to 2.00.x upgrades
  • Strong understanding of S/4HANA and SAP best practices 
  • 2+ years of telecom industry experience (preferred)

Responsibilities 

  • Review existing current state migration approach and disposition document to validate it has all necessary information and actions for a successful upgrade
  • Perform a comprehensive review of the Technical Design Document (TDD) to ensure you can deliver the solution as drafted
  • Review future state requirements document to ensure you can deliver the future state design and architecture of an SAP Solution Manager with the following components: PAS (ABAP+JAVA), AAS (ABAP+JAVA), ASCS+ERS (JAVA), ERS (ABAP)+ SCS, WD) as written
  • Perform an upgrade of SolMan 7.2 SP8 components from existing on prem SAP landscape to a Google Cloud hosted landscape for a Dev and Prod environment
  • Perform an upgrade of the existing HANA 1.00.122.17 database and components to HANA 2.x for a Dev and Prod environment
  • Complete all necessary testing (unit, regression, SIT, etc.) ensuring all capabilities function as expected
  • Quickly identify, comprehend, and address any potential issues
  • Collaborate with Cloud migration team to ensure successful, timely migration of SolMan 7.2 SP8 and migration and upgrade of HANA 1.00 to HANA 2.0

 

Specialized Knowledge, skills, and/or Abilities: 

  • Expertise in core SAP Basis capabilities such as: SAP system administration, client/server architecture, transport management, background job processing, system monitoring, and performance tuning.
  • Deep understanding of all components of SAP Solution Manager, including PAS(ABAP+JAVA), AAS(ABAP+JAVA), ASCS+ERS(JAVA), ERS(ABAP)+ SCS, WD) as well as deployment of several functional modules and integration with other SAP systems.
  • Ability to configure and implement SAP Solution Manager components responsible for monitoring and alerting, including early watch reports and automated monitoring based on industry best practices
  • Possess technical proficiency with database administration and experience upgrading from HANA 1.00.x to HANA 2.00.x, and have a solid understanding of any potential version conflict with SAP SolMan 7.2 SP8 
  • Deep knowledge of operating systems, virtualization, and networking
  • Experience with high availability (HA) production and development deployment and configuration of SAP Solution Manager 
  • Experience in planning and executing SAP system upgrades, database migrations, and system refreshes.
