JOB DETAIL

As a Test Engineer for Energy Storage Products, you will be a key member of the battery development team to deliver Best-in-Class products in the Agricultural and Construction Industries. You will interact with a team of engineers covering the overall battery pack designs and the interfaces required for full integration into vehicle systems. The right candidate will be responsible for all energy storage testing activities from concept initiation to production launch.

Requirements:

  • Responsible for supporting all test activities associated with development and validation of traction batteries for electric vehicles and associated components.
  • Work closely with energy storage design engineers and propulsion team members in support of product development activities
  • Lead the development of standard test systems, methods, and procedures associated with energy storage system product specifications
  • Responsible for test equipment setup, instrumentation setup, and functional execution of HV and LV testing.
  • Assist in the development of system DFMEA’s and FTA’s for internal and/or supplier designs
  • Work with engineering team to assure facilities is capable of meeting future testing needs
  • Perform data analysis and generate comprehensive technical reports
  • Communicate testing progress to leadership, identify project risk and propose mitigation strategies
  • Direct, review and sign-off on test setups for sufficiency, accuracy, and safety for internal or external test requests
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts for all DUT’s
  • Develop project proposals for test equipment and facilities upgrades
  • Interface with vehicle, functional safety, software, diagnostics, BMS, and prototype build teams
  • Stay abreast of the latest technologies for energy storage testing, equipment and strategies and drive the creation of innovative solutions.

 Required Qualification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering
  • 2 years’ experience in testing HV energy storage components and/or systems
  • Experience in translating requirements into test methods and procedures
  • Experience with data collection systems associated with battery test equipment
  • Working knowledge of instrumentation measurement systems, such as transducers for temperature, pressure, fluid flow, etc.
  • Strong computer skills for data analysis
  • Written, verbal and presentation skills in English
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proactive behaviors

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in SIL and HIL setup and use
  • Test script writing
  • Project management skills
  • Knowledge of battery cell chemistry
  • Detail-oriented individual with the ability to extract and understand the big picture
  • Experience with cross-functional collaboration
  • Ability to set clear objectives and deliverable
  • Experience with MatLab and Simulink tools
