Specific assignments and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following areas:
- Working as part of a team responsible for administration and management of all clients, servers, and end-user workstations connected to the classified and unclassified PMRF networks.
- Deploy, configure, and maintain systems, including software installation, update, patching, and core services related to Windows desktop OS, Windows server OS, Linux OS, and various third-party applications.
- DISA STIG implementation / System Hardening and working within Configuration-Managed Environments
- Provide technical expertise at supervisor and management meetings, which may include necessary planning and scheduling of meetings.
- Determines when desktop, server, software, and OS upgrades are required and ensures that all upgrades are completed as scheduled, and that appropriate documentation exists prior to implementation.
- Prioritizes work center organization, equipment, and processes based on performance requirements and mission needs.
- Manage AD users and groups, including use of a centralized directory for authentication.
- Configure local storage using partitions and logical volumes.
- Create and configure file systems and file system attributes, such as permissions, encryption, access control lists, and network file systems.
- Operate running systems, including booting into different run levels, identifying processes, starting, and stopping virtual machines, and controlling services.
- Support for application installation, licenses management, software tracking/distribution and backup/recovery of system configurations and user data files
- Maintain up-to-date Configuration Control and adhere to all Configuration Management requirements for all Firmware, Software, and Hardware associated with the classified and unclassified PMRF networks.
- Develop, revise, and update departmental internal procedure (DIPs), standard operating procedures (SOPs) for maintenance on associated systems and network assets.
- Understand and use essential tools for handling files, directories, command-line environments, and documentation.
- Prepare and submit status reports, and technical briefs, as required, to supervisor, senior management, and customers.
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux system administration: expected to provide technical problem solving and in-depth consulting for problems involving system operations.
- Automated installation methods and system imaging (e.g., SCCM, VMware)
- Usage of cryptographic log-on methods (e.g., PKI)
- Analysis, design, and implementation of modifications to the system software to improve system performance by correcting error.
- Participation in planning new hardware acquisitions, interacting with vendors, educating customers, and communicating and collaborating with other projects within the organization.
- Will work closely with engineers to help them use workstations and servers to solve their computationally intensive problems.
- Using shell scripting to automate system maintenance task.
- Configuring system logging (including remote logging), Configure tools such as What’s Up gold, CACTI, and LogRhythm
- Perform system asset/property accountability and license management within specifications of PMRF contract.
- Assist and support lab environment testing/buildouts with senior team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Responsibilities
- General office environment with site visits as well as periodic "at sea" duty to support the PMRF's Mobile at Sea Sensor system (MATSS)
- Candidate must be capable of working in a team environment and participate in technical and system administrative activities throughout project life cycles.
- Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: Over 50 lbs. (two-men assist)
- Positions: walking or standing, crawling, kneeling, cramped, and work requiring repeated stooping, sitting, and/or frequent stair climbing
- Environmental: Customer Contact, Extended Workday, Confined Work Area, Office Laboratory, Field Assignment, Inclement Weather
- Lifting, pushing, and pulling over 50 lbs. (two-men assist).
- Work positions requirements: walking, standing, sitting, crawling, kneeling or cramped. Work requiring repeated stooping, or frequent climbing.
- Working environment activities: Customer contact, extended workday, confined work area, office laboratory, field assignment, and inclement weather.
Minimum Qualifications
- BS/BA in Business, IT, or relevant field and at least 3 years of System Administration/IT experience
- Or High school diploma/GED, and at least 5 years of System Administration/IT experience
Experience
- Advance certifications may be substituted for a degree or experience.
- Years of directly related work experience may be substituted for a degree.
- Knowledge of IT systems and advance IT infrastructure concepts
- Must be proficient in operating personal computers, computer software and standard office equipment.
- Must have basic keyboarding skills and aptitude for neatness and accuracy in sorting.

Certification
- DOD 8570.1M IAT Level II
- One of the following OS Certifications required within 6 months of hire (subject to change based on industry, DoD, or local policy requirements)
- Linux+ or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
- Current Microsoft System Administrator certificate (example: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (Core), Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Administrator Associate (Core and Productivity 365 Roles))
Preferred Qualifications
- Advance knowledge and certification in both Windows Server and RHEL are considered highly desired.
- VMware certification
- Knowledge/Administration of Trellix, LogRhythm, and MDE
- Experience with DoD systems and infrastructur
- Knowledge in Cyber Security Methods and Techniques
- Knowledge of DoD IT systems, to include Windows, RHEL, and comprehensive infrastructure concepts.
