Primary part of the job. Work with our Ellucian Banner Managed Services Provider. Ensure they are maintaining our DBs and Banner. They will be the primary contact between FAU and Ellucian. They will assist with coordinating tickets with them, helping with some OS Linux configurations they may request. The MSP is who keeps our Student Information System healthy. 

Secondary part of the job. We have about 12 Oracle databases on 20 servers. They need management, patches, monitoring, etc. 

Is this person going to need a certain level of experience/expertise writing queries with SQL/PL-SQL? 

1. Most DBAs have some experience doing this. Nothing like reporting or anything. However, experience like building table triggers or jobs or such to maintain the DB. There is definitely SQL involved when doing maintenance and such. 

Will there be any database development involved, or only administration?

1. Only administration. Keep the DBs up to date, assist Ellucian with any OS tasks that are needed, etc.
