The technical BA will be a member of a cross-functional Agile team that includes a product manager, product owner, and subject matter experts. The team’s focus is laying the groundwork for migrating content from an existing content management system (CMS) into a new componentized CMS (CCMS).
The BA will be responsible for eliciting and documenting business and technical requirements. Using these requirements, the BA will describe and break down the work into features and user stories that other teams will pick up and complete.
The ability to elicit and clearly document complex information around client’s content lifecycle is critical to this role. The technical BA will need to have a technical understanding around the discipline of content management and delivery. These may include:
Understanding how content is structured in the source CMS system and how it will be structured in the target CCMS system.
How content will be annotated.
How metadata will move from the source to the target system.
Discovery around how content in the CCMS system can be optimized for authoring, reviewing, management, translation management, publication, delivery, and experience.
It is critical that the technical BA can effectively communicate information to IT engineers (who will build migration scripts) and understand CMS publication and delivery outputs. The technical BA must be able to communicate in writing the business requirements that engineers will use to build the solutions.
