JOB DETAIL

Actalent Engineering has a Veterinary Medicine Research and Development (VMRD) Diagnostics group looking for a skilled and experienced Software Security Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. As a Software Security Engineer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the cybersecurity of their products. Your primary responsibilities will include defining requirements of a standard operating procedure (SOP) for product cybersecurity, performing threat modeling and security risk analysis, conducting vulnerability assessments, and defining appropriate mitigations. Your expertise and technical knowledge will be crucial in maintaining the security and integrity of products for customers. Job Responsibilities • Develop and implement a comprehensive standard operating procedure (SOP) to defined cybersecurity requirements and development processes for Zoetis diagnostic instruments and software products. • Perform threat modeling exercises to identify potential security vulnerabilities and risks within our software systems. • Conduct security risk assessments to evaluate the impact and likelihood of identified threats and vulnerabilities. • Perform vulnerability assessments on software applications and systems to identify weaknesses and potential attack vectors. • Collaborate with development teams to define and implement effective security controls and countermeasures. • Define and recommend appropriate mitigations to address identified security risks and vulnerabilities. • Conduct code reviews and provide security-related guidance to development teams to ensure adherence to secure coding practices. • Stay updated with the latest security threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices to continuously enhance our security posture. • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, quality assurance, and IT operations, to ensure the successful implementation of security measures. • Act as a subject matter expert on software security, providing guidance and support to team members and stakeholders.

Work Environment

Mostly interacting with engineers, not client interfacing. Will be a remote role, but wants someone close to Bay Area or Durham, NC so they can come in once a month for team meetings.
