JOB DETAIL

Hybrid, 2 days onsite and 3 days remote work.

Contract to hire role

Looking for someone who understands Python, data structures, Azure Data bricks or any Data bricks, Cloud skills are fungible, doesn’t need much experience in Cloud1 year is fine, understands star schema is a plus. Data lake experience needed. Wants someone who can take data from one format and load into data lake that is consumable downstream. If someone has data Lakehouse experience that is a major plus. Agile environment.

Responsibilities Read user stories, work with architects to identify resources and tech stack that they will use, develop the story all the way through, do system integration testing and other testing, check code into Git repository for CI/CD pipeline deployment, responsible for developing production support documents (this is what my code does), support if there is a production support incident and how to resolve it (work with support team on this).

They use Codility Assessment software before first interview. They send out Codility code check to test on coding skills then panel interview with 2 to 3 ppl and get in deep into tech questions re: coding test and other questions. Then bring in for onsite white board but, usually, if they show up, they already have the job. They have been victim of candidates switching or being fed answers during virtual interviews.

For those with Python Experience:

Given you create a generic function, how would you fail it?
The answer should be anything from throw/raise an exception, sys.exit. or assert. All of those are valid, but I would expect an almost immediate response of throw/raise an exception. That is fundamental to development that anyone with a year of experience should be able to answer.

What is the differences between a tuple and a list.
1. Tuple is immutable, list is mutable
2. There are more methods built in for a list

Give me an example of why you would use a tuple versus a list
1. You'd use a tuple if you had items that you didn't want to modify (i.e. coordinates, or days of the week).

If experience with ADF what type of activities can you perform in ADF
Data movement activities and data transformation activities

If Data bricks experience Can you explain the benefits Delta Live tables and Unity Catalog.

1)How long is candidate ownership in your database? For example, if someone submitted their resume to GMF over a year ago and we submit same candidate for the Data engineer position, will they be unavailable for us to submit? What is the time frame for this? One year

2)What is the 3rd skillset that Codility is going to be testing candidates on? Python and SQL were mentioned but there was a 3rd one that was not specified.
Structuring Data (python/XML)
SQL Warehouse
Spark Data frames
