The Accessibility Tester evaluates digital products to ensure compliance with digital accessibility regulations and requirements by performing the following duties and responsibilities.
- Plan, construct and execute manual and automated tests to verify compliance with accessibility guidelines and standards.
- Utilize automated accessibility testing tools, manual testing methodologies (keyboard, screen reader, etc.) and assistive technologies.
- Ensure all testing results are documented clearly.
- Track defects to closure and keep defect repository up to date.
Required Skills
- Knowledge of digital accessibility and disability inclusion
- Deep understanding of the current version of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and the Revised Section 508 Standards
- Knowledge of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, etc.)
- Experience using accessibility evaluation tools and frameworks (WAVE, Developer Tools, Accessibility Inspector, etc.)
- Strong leadership skills in similar accessibility engagements
- Understanding of accessibility application audit and reporting
- Proficient with assistive technologies (JAWS, VoiceOver, Dragon Naturally Speaking, ZoomText), color contrast analyzer, and automated accessibility testing tools
- Experience with test management and defect tracking tools (Jira, Rally and HP Quality Center)
- Background in design and execution of test criteria from requirements
- Experience analyzing bug severity and with bug tracking systems and bug reporting.
- Adept at liaising with multiple stakeholders
- Effective verbal and written communications
