Position Overview:

The Big Data GRC Controls Business Analyst is a critical role within the organization that involves ensuring the effective implementation and maintenance of governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) controls in the context of big data initiatives. This role requires a strong understanding of both big data technologies and regulatory/compliance frameworks, along with exceptional analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (such as Computer Science, Information Security, Business, or related disciplines). Master's degree is a plus.

Proven experience as a business analyst or in a related role, preferably in a big data or data-centric environment.

Architectural understanding of enterprise-large-scale Big Data applications, Data Flow, and Process Engineering

Familiarity with big data technologies, platforms, and tools (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, NoSQL databases).

Strong understanding of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and industry standards (e.g., ISO 27001).

Excellent analytical skills with the ability to assess complex technical and regulatory requirements.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams.

Professional certifications related to GRC (e.g., CRISC, CISA, CISM) and big data (e.g., Cloudera, Hortonworks) are advantageous.

Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

GRC Strategy Development:

Collaborate with stakeholders to define and develop a comprehensive GRC strategy for big data initiatives.

Identify and prioritize regulatory and compliance requirements relevant to big data projects.

Control Framework Design:

Design and document control frameworks tailored to the organization's big data ecosystem.

Ensure that controls address data privacy, security, and other relevant regulatory aspects.

Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

Identify potential risks and vulnerabilities within the big data environment.

Evaluate risks associated with data collection, storage, processing, and sharing, and recommend mitigation strategies.

Control Implementation:

Collaborate with technical teams to implement GRC controls within the big data infrastructure.

Ensure that controls are integrated seamlessly into the data lifecycle and technical processes.

Monitoring and Reporting:

Develop and implement monitoring mechanisms to track the effectiveness of GRC controls.

Generate regular reports for management highlighting the status of controls and any potential compliance issues.

Regulatory Compliance:

Stay up-to-date with relevant regulatory changes and industry standards related to big data and data privacy.

Ensure that the organization's big data practices align with applicable regulations.

Communication and Training:

Provide training and awareness programs to educate teams on GRC controls and compliance requirements.

Act as a subject matter expert on big data GRC topics, assisting teams in understanding and implementing controls.

Audits and Assessments:

Coordinate and support internal and external audits related to big data GRC controls.

Provide necessary documentation and evidence to auditors as required.

Continuous Improvement:

Identify opportunities for enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of GRC controls.

Implement improvements based on feedback, lessons learned, and emerging best practices.
