JOB DETAIL

•             The Senior Apex Developer serves a critical role on the Lab Information Management Systems technical team (LIMS Team) and shall act as an Apex DBA and senior developer on new and existing DPH systems and other related application-specific processes including technical application support for Apex/Oracle and any 3rd party related components.

•             Assists in the development and implementation using Oracle/Apex. Assists in database design and database reporting process, using Oracle, BI, and related reporting services.

•             Support ancillary applications and data feeds including Electronic Laboratory Reporting system (ELR), Rhapsody and others and create and maintain related technical documentation.

•             The Senior Apex Developer must participate in technical projects, work-streams, and activities. They must take ownership of technical tasks and issues: tracking them through to resolution and utilizing technical resources including staff, tools and documentation to meet project and operational objectives.

•             The Senior Apex Developer must work well with technical team members and cooperate on group troubleshooting of issues, deal with customers professionally and with integrity, be accountable to the customer, stakeholders, team members and the project manager.

•             They must exhibit good intra-team relations including cross-team knowledge transfer of work tasks and knowledge.

•             They must be willing to handle tasks themselves and share tasks jointly with other team members.

•             The Senior Apex Developer must be consistently sharing technical knowledge with other team members. Ideally, for this role there should be at least one team member identified by management as the Apex Developer "in training" who can serve as a back-up.

•             The Senior Apex Developer must be adept in all forms of communications; Writing concise technical explanations, requirements and technical specifications, and emails/texts as well as clear verbal communications in meetings, teleconferences, and training.

•             They must be capable of translating complex technical issues into logical, concise, and understandable communiqué for varied audiences.

•             They must exemplify an understanding of the lines of authority within the technical team, ensuring proper escalation of issues and risks and informing management, and technical team members on a need-to-know basis.

Technical Issues:

•             They must keep on top of all open and emerging technical issues: documenting, tracking and keeping the Project Manager informed.

•             Enhance existing functionalities in DPH Apex systems and document and standardize processes.

•             Should provide a weekly technical status update.

•             Oracle DBA: Creates, maintains and provides close monitoring of Oracle Databases and tables: Planning, managing technical risk, and advising management.

•             Apex Developer Senior Application Upgrades and Releases:

•             Keeps close monitoring of minor and major software updates and releases: Planning, managing technical risk, and advising management.

•             Code Review: Participate and lead in recurring Apex code review sessions as needed.

•             Research: Research and analyze new, related applications and tools when necessary: Taking advantage of opportunities to research technology.

•             On-Call: The Senior Apex Developer on the LIMS Team must be available for any technical issue or emergency that occurs during the formal workday or after hours.

•             Escalation: Exemplify an understanding of lines of authority within the technical team ensuring proper escalation of issues and risks and informing management, and technical teams’ members on a need-to-know basis.
