Position: Android DeveloperLocation : Chicago, ILDuration : Fulltime

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Android Tech Lead to join our team. You will take on a leadership role, enhancing your extensive experience in Android development and guiding a team of developers. We are looking for someone with over 7 years of experience who can mentor junior team members, review pull requests, collaborate with solution architects, actively participate in requirement analysis and technical design sessions, and handle releases to the Google Play Store. Experience with GraphQL, AppSync, or other AWS technologies (Lambda, CloudWatch, Kibana) is a plus. Additionally, excellent communication, being a great teammate, and having a proactive and driven demeanor are crucial for success in this role.

  • Work with designers and App developers to verify and release innovative ad formats designed for popular native apps.
  • Develop and maintain test frameworks for efficient testing of ad implementations in mobile apps.
  • Build test cases and test plans that drive certification and releases of Mobile SDKs.
  • Interact with product teams and developers of Monetization SDK to understand core product features and test requirements.
  • Respond to high-impact production incidents due to SDKs delivered to various Native App customers, internal or external.
  • Participate in full application test and release cycle (automate, test, release and deploy).
  • Be the gatekeeper of quality for apps and SDKs and help drive quality assurance initiatives.
  • Responsible for programming and software development using various programming languages and related tools and frameworks, reviewing code written by other programmers, requirement gathering, bug fixing, testing, documenting, and implementing software systems.
  • Experienced programmers are also responsible for interpreting architecture and design, code reviews, mentoring, guiding, and monitoring programmers, ensuring alignment to programming and documentation policies, software development, testing, and release.
  • Knowledge of Unit Testing e.g. Junit, XC test.
  • Candidates should be flexible/willing to work across this delivery landscape which includes and is not limited to Agile Applications Development, Support, and Deployment.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in Java / Kotlin, use of Android development tooling (Android Studio)
  • Able to handle REST calls, JSON parsing and construction, UI implementation from specifications
  • Able to solve HTTP traffic to / from device
  • Understands popular patterns and their implementation
  • Understands and uses source code management tools and processes (EG: GIT)
  • Able to fix an issue in an application given the requirements, stack traces, and source code.
  • Understands use of GRADLE and MAVEN in context of package management and application production
  • Helps to build and Define the API contracts between applications and middleware systems. Use of SWAGGER, RAML, etc required.
  • Performs application analysis and derives suggestions for application improvement, performance management, and tech debt management
  • Understands and promotes Android UI design guidelines and standard processes
  • Experience working in teams following common Agile methodologies: Scrum / Kanban
  • Android Studio
  • Charles Proxy, Postman, Fiddler, or other HTTP traffic diagnosis tools
  • Jira, Confluence or other like team management tools
  • GIT, Stash, Bitbucket, or like modern source code management tools
