Job Description:

The Power Platform and SharePoint Architect (Contractor) shall plan architecture of CalSTRS cloud platform and cloud applications, design optimal underlying infrastructure, configure Active Directory, and build integrations with enterprise applications. The Power Platform and SharePoint Architect will work collaboratively with program and project management teams as well as third party vendors to ensure the maximum benefit can be derived from the Cloud implementations, critical business systems, and integrations. The Power Platform and SharePoint Architect will advance the sophistication of CalSTRS cloud platform and provide highest levels of mentorship, system administration, support, and maintenance.

The Contractor will report to the CalSTRS Chief Technology Officer or designee and may be assigned to one or more teams/programs/projects during the total services period.

The Contractor shall perform the following tasks including, but not limited to:

  • Design and build responsive GUI for SharePoint sites that can be deployed across multiple SharePoint applications and environments.
  • Research SharePoint upgrade and patch roadmap and advise on strategic options and upcoming challenges related to the platform including cloud based offerings, third party tools, industry best practices, and performance tuning/optimization.
  • Maintain and/or improve CalSTRS SharePoint search optimization and core functionality.
  • 4. Research, support, and train staff on the use of new advanced SharePoint features and functionality.
  • Review and advance SharePoint governance and internal controls.
  • Prototype complex workflows and other business automation functions and gain support for implementation.
  • Implement and configure new SharePoint environments and proofs of concept as appropriate.
  • Lead SharePoint projects as needed.
  • Coordinate or participate in integration and/or acceptance testing as needed.
  • Create System design documents, architectural diagrams, technical specs, and training materials as needed.
  • Conduct knowledge transfer for technical staff, line of business site administrators, communities of practice, and CalSTRS end users.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENTS:

The proposed project person must meet all of the following minimum qualifications to CalSTRS satisfaction to be given further consideration. Failure to satisfy any of the minimum qualifications upon submittal of the Offer may result in the immediate rejection of the Offer.

Minimum Technical Qualifications:

  • At least five (5) years of experience, within the last six (6) years, performing architectural design, implementation, migration, and administration in SharePoint Online, Microsoft (MS) Teams, and use of SharePoint hybrid architectures during cloud migration.
  • At least three (3) years of experience designing and developing custom solutions on Microsoft Power Platform with Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse, and Power BI.

One or more of the following

  • Ability to train SharePoint staff, application developers, site administrators, and end users to work effectively with existing and planned SharePoint frameworks.
  • Experience with Nintex, ShareGate.
  • Experience with migrating on prem SharePoint, Access, and file share content and functionality to SharePoint Online, MS Teams, Power Platform including reusable design concepts and industry standards.
  • Experience with Azure Machine Learning and Azure Data Factory.
