JOB DETAIL

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under general direction of the designated Manager, responsible for technical solution architecture, landscape design, sizing and costing of SAP and non-SAP solutions. Will be working along side SAP Basis, AppDev and Infrastructure teams to help with end-to-end deployment of large-scale SAP workloads and other Enterprise solutions on On-Prem and public cloud such as Azure, AWS and GCP.

Will define and enforce standards related to technology tower. Will be responsible for proactively identifying opportunities to utilize the technology to solve technical and business problems. 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Engage with all efforts related with technical architecture requirements within SAP and non-SAP solutions.

Will work closely with SAP Basis, AppDev, Automation, Business, infrastructure, and Business Continuity teams to create technical solutions.

Interface with the Enterprise Architecture and Infosec teams to follow certain company and industry specific standards.

Keeps abreast of new developments and forecasts of future trends in the areas of SAP technology.

  1. Strong Infrastructure Knowledge for Compute, Network, Storage, Security, HA/DR.
  2. Deep knowledge of one or more Databases such as Oracle, HANA, MSSQL, Azure SQL, Postgres, CosmosDB, Aerospike
  3. Knowledge of various Compute platforms such as VMWare, Kubernetes (AKS, OCP, Tanzu.), Docker, and Appliances such as Oracle Exadata and SAP HANA (by various h/w vendors)
  4. Good understanding of SLES and RHEL and ability to architect HA setup involving Linux Pacemaker and similar supported HA solutions for SAP HANA DB and SAP Central Services
  5. Understanding of SAP Networking requirements involving, External and Internal connectivity to SAP and other applications using Proxy, LoadBalancer, Application g/w, creating requests to get Firewall rules and NSG rules needed by the application.
  6. Monitoring of SAP and 3rd party solutions using SAP Solution Manager, SAP LVM, New Relic APM, Dynatrace, Azure monitor for SAP.
  7. Good knowledge of IT security products to harden OS, Storage, Network, Database, SAP, and different resources in Azure.
  8. Working knowledge of Unix shell scripting, Python, Automation tools such as Ansible AWX/Tower, Terraform, DevOps tools such as Nexus, Bitbucket, GitHub, Jira, Jenkins.
  9. Knowledge of Data Streaming products such as Kafka, Confluent Platform, Azure Eventhub, Azure Streaming Analytics, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, Databricks, Google BigQuery and Google PubSub, SAP Data Intelligence and SAP DataSphere.
  10. Ability to lead and actively participate doing hands-on work in Proof-of-Concept projects to demostrate certain architecture, Cyber resiliency, High Availability capabilities for the proposed solution.
  11. Create Architecture diagrams, HLD, LLD and document the overall solution.
  12. Costing of Solutions using Azure Pricing calculator and other tools, understanding of various aspects of IaaS and PaaS to help with computing optimum cost for the proposed solution andn Cost optimization for existing environment.
  13. Work with Microsoft Azure resources to understand and suggest best practices of running SAP work laods in Azure.

Works with internal and external customers to understand their requirements to form a forward-thinking architectural vision for the infrastructure of the Company.

Provide input on and support new projects affecting the SAP environments.

Engage and interface directly with SAP pre-sales and product management teams as required for product related questions.

Defines solutions by identifying requirements and writing functional specifications; consults with technical subject matter experts.

Advises on options, risks, costs versus benefits and impact on other business processes and system priorities; contributes to cost versus benefit measures.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Travel is estimated at 15%.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Requires a BS Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent, and preferably SAP and Cloud Architect Certifications. Normally requires a minimum of ten (10) years directly related and progressively responsible experience in leading architecture design and implementation. Must have experience with multiple SAP implementation lifecycles and global rollouts.  Requires experience with implementation, operating, and performance management of SAP S/4 HANA, SAP products based on NetWeaver ABAP and Java Stacks, SAP Cloud solutions such as BTP, CPI, SAP Analytics cloud etc. Candidates should also have experience working with 3rd party applications including but not limited to Vendavo, Vertex, Redwood CPS, Opentext Archivinng and Document management, Opentext Exstream.
