SAS programmers perform a variety of tasks related to computer data. This includes importing and exporting raw data, creating reports using SAS procedures, combining sets of SAS data, building statistical tables to show information and correcting errors of programming. They also help lead system testing and present data to a management team. Some common job duties for a SAS programmer include: 

• Gathering data from all available sources and using SAS to process it 

• Managing and maintaining databases 

• Creating and writing programs 

• Preparing and presenting operations reports to the management team 

• Studying management reports using SAS 

• Ensuring they document programs in accordance with the working guideline 

• Automating data maintenance 

• Creating macros 

• Performing quality control procedures 

• Generating efficacy reports 

• Collaborating with other departments to document and manage data for internal research projects 

• Finding desired answers to help organizations with their decision making
