JOB DETAIL

  1. Analyze Current Environment A thorough assessment of the existing Oracle Data Integrator, Oracle Database, and OBIEE Rapid File Database (RPD) environment will be conducted, including:
  1. Detailed plan with conversion steps, dependencies, and validation strategy.
  2. OBIEE RPD Assessment – Identifying subject areas, data source mappings, and conversion complexity.
  3. Data Models – Analyzing table relationships, fact/dimension models.
  4. Security & Access – Identifying existing security roles, policies, and groups.
  5. Performance Metrics – Evaluating pipeline execution efficiency and bottlenecks.
  6. ETL/ELT Pipelines – Identifying dependencies and process flow.
  7. Data Sources & Integrations – Documenting relational/non-relational databases.

 

  1. Migrate data from Oracle to cloud data warehouse
    1. Data Migration Process:
  1. Extract historical and incremental data from Oracle.
  2. Transform data using Azure Data Factory (ADF) or equivalent orchestration tools.
  3. Load data into cloud data warehouse using bulk data movement strategies.
  4. Validate migrated data against Oracle to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  5. Optimize partitioning, indexing, and clustering in the target data warehouse.
    1. Data Warehouse Design:
  1. Implement staging, raw, and transformed layers for optimized data storage.
  2. Design and transition of Oracle schemas and tables to cloud data warehouse

 

  1. Convert PL/SQL transformation logic to cloud data warehouse and leverage built-in streaming and automation capabilities.

 

  1. Migration from ODI to Azure Data Factory (ADF)
    1. Topology – document Physical Architecture, Contexts and Logical Architecture etc.
    2. Convert ODI workflows to ADF Pipelines with equivalent or enhanced functionality.
    3. Rebuild parameterized pipelines to accommodate reusable ETL logic.
    4. Configure linked services to integrate data sources/destinations cloud data warehouse
    5. Develop logging, error handling, and monitoring mechanisms using Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
    6. Optimize workflows for scalability and cost-efficiency (parallelism, trigger scheduling).
    7. Implement Change Data Capture (CDC) for incremental loads where applicable.

 

  1. OBIEE RPD to Power BI Data Model Migration
    1. Extract and document RPD metadata; including logical models, subject areas, and presentation layers.
    2. Map OBIEE RPD relationships to Power BI datasets and dataflows.
    3. Convert logical models to physical models where applicable for optimized performance.
    4. Ensure role-based access security mappings are transitioned correctly.
    5. Validate Power BI data models against OBIEE reports for accuracy.

 

  1. OBIEE Dashboards to Power BI Dashboards Migration
    1. Recreate OBIEE dashboards and reports in Power BI with modern interactive capabilities.
    2. Implement row-level security (RLS) and access control policies in Power BI.
    3. Enhance report performance using Power BI Direct Query and Import modes.
    4. Optimize layouts, interactivity, and navigation for a seamless end-user experience.
    5. Train business users on self-service analytics and report customization.

 

  1. Knowledge Transfer
    1. Deliver Comprehensive Knowledge Transfer sessions on:
  1. Developing Power BI dashboards and reports.
  2. Managing and maintaining the new post-deployment system.
  3. Post-implementation support for issue resolution and system enhancements.
